Unfortunately, under IFABs Laws of the Game, it is illegal to be wearing any sort of electronic equipment, including cameras, in sanctioned matches. As much as I would love to see more of these kinds of channels, because it allows non-referee participants in soccer to see and hear what we do.
Great idea on having a gopro on. As a ref myself I would to wear one and reciew the footage after to see where I need to improve. I do agree with other people comments on being a little to far away however, your calls (in my opinion) were 1000% spot on. Thank you for posting this and I hope leagues across the US would allow refs to wear this to self correct. Thank you.

I really don’t like to bring other referee’s down, as an official in England myself, but this performance is well below par. I found myself cringing at some of the decisions that unfolded. First and foremost, there really needs to be some work on positioning, I don’t recall the referee venturing any further than the centre circle, and positioning to give penalty in the first half has no credibility whatsoever. For example, a shout for handball in the box was met with, “I didn’t have a good view actually”, whilst the referee is rooted to the same spot… if you haven’t got a good view then move to create one! Secondly there are a few incidents here were I suspect the LofTG need some revision, e.g. keeper having “two feet” on line at penalty kick. Thirdly, what I wouldn’t really class as dissent was met with an extremely harsh yellow card. The player did not show any dissent to the decision, merely raised his arms in disbelief. Some serious man management and communication development I suggest, and after all those decisions do not come about if you give yourself a better angle when positioning. To top it off the challenge on the keeper is by no means a foul, this rules to what looks like a disallowed goal (possible offside if no foul called hard to tell), but further comments such as “stay off the keeper” are ludicrous. The goalkeeper has no special privilege from challenges, and the one seen in the video is by no means careless or reckless, the keeper simply losses out. Anyway rant over for now, I will not watch another video otherwise I’ll be writing essays all day.

Also, I feel IFAB oversteps their jurisdiction here. There is no risk to players or coaches involved by the ref wearing a camera for training material. And the moment a big organization, like a corporation or government says you little individual cannot film your own work environment... it's time to fight back. Right now I am wishing I had a goPro... I want to share with our adult league players as well as refs... we all need a lot of education and enlightenment here. Our local league may not have a fall season for lack of refs and here, in this Adult league it's a.matter of players dissenting and borderline/full on abuse issues. Yall want a real video? Send me a GoPro! I'll take it to the Latino League! They are unsanctioned so forget IFAB. We do what we want! Lol

A bit of a counter point from me, although I do agree on the goalie wasn't challenged at the end there and also regarding the 2 feet on the line comment. Three other things I do disagree with: 1) The positioning follows the recommended training to travel on a diagonal opposite of the AR. When the penalty was called he was in a good spot to see the infraction that occurred between him and the AR. I'm sure they made eye contact and confirmed this was a penalty. Remember there are a ton of edits in this video to boil it down to 16 minutes also... 2) As for the handball later... it's easy to arm chair ref this situation w/ a bunch of replays in 0.25x speed... but truth is, in that moment right there, the AR's view was obstructed and we don't exactly know what the center ref was really thinking. I could understand his hesitation, since even after watching it a couple of times, I'm not 100% sure the ball bounced off his arm low enough (remember, shoulder is not hand), his arm was not extended and he might've even tried to pull away his arm but didn't have time to react. So the ref had to judge based on a lot of variables. What he then SAID to the red player might've been just something to appease him - not the objective truth you make it out to be. 3) Lastly, the dissent... you say it's a harsh yellow... but actually I think you just confused who he's carding. It's not the player raising his arms in disbelief. It's the player w/o a number on his back, and he's not seen in the video when he makes the call. So we don't really know what he did or what he said (maybe foul language also). The fact that the player accepted his yellow w/o much push back tells me he knows what he did and fully deserved a caution.

1:10 What was that 😳
Just stumbled across this page. Son (13) just got his license this year. What is the IFAB rule permitting cameras as an AR? Genuine question, as you know it would be more for his protection against parents intimidating him. Its already happened and aside from telling the center or a board member, the prescense of a camera would hopefully deter from the sideline intimidating him. He plays U14 Div 1 and refs rec to comp for reference so he knows the rules. Thanks in advance and keep up the content.

@Raider025

The individual official determines what kind of sheet he/she keeps. Some use the wallet, the one which comes with the starter kit, and paper. Others use write on cards with sharpie. Others still use other forms, such as tape on the back of non-write on cards. There's no "official" requirement on it, so it's whatever the referee is comfortable with using.
You need to practice positioning.
How could you make decisions from 30-40 meters. Being so far from play is unacceptable.
