I am Afrikaans myself and for the pass 28 years on this planet I never liked Afrikaans music,sounded weird... But ever since I heard Refentse voice an the way he sings Afrikaans music.. The 28 years was a wast.. Because I love Afrikaans music now. Thanks Refentse...

The song is based on a poem. The story is that the poet's friend commited suicide at age 12. As a way of bring the mother of his friend some comfort, he wrote her this poet. Its basically about the mother trying to find light in her life after the death of her son/sun. Very beautiful.

Yea I did it as a poem in my grade 12 in Afrikaans

This young man's voice is like velvet. I listen to him over and over..Music that speaks to the heart. Going through a shocking loss and this is healing balm for my soul.

Ook in Nederland goed te verstaan en mee te zingen. Prachtige tekst.

I`m Polish who spend 1992-1998 this years of my life, i know i never return to this place . THANKS Suid-Afrika to change my life.

This guy is the real deal. No political agendas, just loves the language and loves the music. As a rooinek, I haven't enjoyed Afrikaans music this much in a long time!

Ummm.... maybe they just really do like his singing? Feel free to confront those who perpetuated those awful crimes, and by all means behave as you will with them, but by getting so triggered about an unrelated topic just because a person sings well shows that yes indeed; you are blinkered. If this was a video about those crimes, then I could understand some discussion on the matter, but it's not. Refugees in Europe have a massive reputation for violence, anti-social behaviour and crime on the whole. There is nothing racist about that; it's a fact. Oh, and before you accuse me of editing my original comment to you out of hypocrisy, I simply removed the "I" word, as it was not right to have said it. Now please go away.

I don't believe I've heard a man's singing voice more beautiful that this. So soothing and pleasant to listen to. And I do; over and over again.

The original song by Theuns Jordaan always made me cry, and your cover is a perfect homage to him.

My teacher gave us this song for a listening test. And wow was it something.
