    H i Francis love your videos,{long time watcher here},i think for the money i will stick to the amazon servos for like 17-20 dollar price point,i mean for the guy like me who trails and rock crawls locally here in Pa,they do just fine,i understand if one is competing in a contest or something that might justify the 100 dollars price tag of these servos....anyway, thanks for your always unbiased reviews, we need more guys like you in the hobby..Salutations from Ford City, PA.

    Loving the Reefs 555 in my Vanquish Pro which is my heaviest crawler (123 oz). Which also has a Reefs 299 LP in it to control the DIG unit. The Reefs 444 in my Capra seems strong; but, that crawler is my lightest unit (97 oz). And that has a Reefs 99 Micro for its DIG. Have been going all Reefs lately; but, my multiple Ecopower 120T servos in other crawlers continue to perform very well. Great bang for the buck!

I was just surprised that it was as much under the stated numbers as it was and the 555 was over the numbers. In the end performance is what matters not the numbers and it has performed well!

    So is these just the same with different gearing within the servo? drawing the very similar amperage, one is faster with less torque, while the other is almost half as quick but with nearly double the torque. Seems like just a gearing change.

    I'm running the one from my Gen 8 Axe in my TRX6. Has plenty of power even at 6v. With EXP maxed out on steering it can throw the wheels side to side on descents. I'm very tough on it and it hasn't given me any fuss. Even submerged it in the creek a few times. The Gen 8 Axe edition had terrible steering geometry so it didn't give the servo a chance to shine.

    As great as the testing results were, I'll be avoided Reef's servos. There's been a LOT of recent "bad" things coming out about the servos, as well as the owner/founder. Evidently, there's been a decent number of recent 'failures', stripped gears, etc. When pressed as to exactly what "metal" the gears are made of, he's badmouthed the customer. I've attached read several reports of "questionable" customer service that reminds me of another small servo manufacturer (ProModeler), who, when a customer was having problems running at 7.4V (on a servo claimed to support up to 8.4V), the owner told him, "You should only be running that at 6.0V." This despite the fact that he CLAIMS it runs up to 8.4V. Until I start hearing plenty of "positive" info about them, Reef's & ProModeler are two companies I'll avoid.

    Reefs servos are by far my favorite due to their reasonable price, speed and torque. They are a small specialized company that can make a mistake once and a while. I own and use their 422, 444, and 555. I did have an older triple 4 fail on me with a snapped spline shaft which was due to a 6mm horn screw instead of a 10mm. The 10mm is now supplied with the servo. As for the gears in my opinion they are titanium coated aluminium. I would not hesitate to purchase 10 more of these servos. Give them a shot, you wont be dissatisfied.

    @@Dokroc78 Did you watch RC Review's most recent video (to 10 under $100)? If so, you might have noticed that the 444 end up a LOT lower in torque than what Reef's claims (in honesty, most of them were below they're ratings, tho not as much as the Reef's was)

  • @Dokroc78

    @Dokroc78

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@robbryan3044 I did watch the recent video, and yes all the servos tested lower than claimed, however in the previous video the reefs 555 tested well over the claimed torque (669 I believe) and Rc Review stated that that were the only ones tested that held the same torque rating after repeated pulls, and the 444 was the most responsive and quietest. I own several Savox servos too including the 1210sg which was also tested and they are great servos as well but loud and not as precise feeling.

    100% agreed, titanium coated aluminum is ridiculous. Secondly calling a servo waterproof, then telling customers “nothing’s submarine proof” yet coming out with new servos that claim to be submarine proof?? Customers are your life blood and shouldn’t feel disrespected.

    We've done that but the info is not very useful. the hole we use is one inch from center and that is the standard rating of the servo, Ounces Per Inch of center. If you us the inner hole, it will be stronger every single time with a consistent difference. It is a math calculation. The close ro center one measures, the stronger, proportionally.

You can look/search KZread they is a test stay multiple days and was still working being fully in water. This test make me bought The Triple 555 and is amazing for me with full brass kit under shock load gravity. It won’t die if in water no worries but not submarine proof. It’s sealed servo like others and if going in water open it and add grease to it if needing.

  • @RCReviewChannel

    No, this was very consistent over dozens of weigh-ins before installed. Now, it's mounted on the jig so there's no way to use another scale. The good news is we test it from time to time using a contro servo and it does not change. We find if you use the same scale in the same mount and position each time, it does not change.
