Awesome mate. Thanks. Nothing worse than getting on a stage and your reed’s so warped that you squeak like a beginner. Moisture control is crucial. Great skills in just making your own. Good tips.

My sax teacher hasn't taught me a way to keep my reeds from drying, so as beginner I find this very useful. I'll definitely try the parsley method for keeping my reeds moist and sanitary.

Just use a plastic reed, and you run it under the tap to clean. 😊

since the cotton balls tend to cause over saturation of moisture.. maybe t would be better & less messier .. to use Q-tip swabs. they're smaller, take up less space, and might be easier to control the amount of wetness with the liquid just on the cotton

Ive always used the rico reedcase with the humidity pack inside and it keeps my reed quite perfect but i guess i do brush my teeth almost every time i play... Bit of a germophobe. I don't know about the health concerns of using hperoxide, but i think i will definitly try something out with listerine!

I've got Rejuvenate. Don't like the reed holders. Don't like the sponge so I just use the container, and 4 Vandoren reeds in their holders fit into the container. They naturally stay well humidifed after using hydrogen peroxide on the reeds with a splash of original brown coloured Listerine. The others contain sugar I've heard. Good to know if the Rejuvenate case breaks, I can just buy some parsley flakes :-)

I made a system with a 300ml jar and I glued a piece of sponge on the lid(inside). I play vandoren reeds but use Rico's reed holder thingys and vodka for the liquid. I play clarinet and it's been a life changer.

I like to use Peroxide. It works best to spray it and let it air dry. If left wet, I found that after a few weeks it gets moldy. Some people under 21 may have problems getting vodka and I'm pretty sure they won't be using it for reeds. LOL!!!

How does this type of system compare to the Reed Storage Case with Humidity Control Pack type? Thanks.

So, I compared Hydrogen Peroxide w/ Listerine and the Listerine did much better at controlling bacteria. HP is typically 97% water and 3% HP- reeds got moldy. I have 2 Reedjuvente(s)- pricey, not perfect, only holds three, but combined w/ Listerine, they work very well.

With the hydrogen peroxide do you rinse the reed after it’s been in it? Is it ok to consume small amounts of it? Does it taste ok?

I'm pretty cryptic about the ship thing because they don't pay me to advertise their brand through social media amd it could lead to some legal problems. If I do a video (which I'm planning) I have to be very careful about the content

Oh HELL YEH!! I highly recommend this job for a qualification that you have. Generally, 3 types. #1, I recommend this for retired "anyone" (usually military) because you can bank 2 checks and not NEED to be on a ship. #2, For students in college that need to stop accumilating debt that you won't be able to ever pay off. #3, Career criminals that can legally pass a background check amd legally leave the state/country that are looking to turn over a new leaf.

I use an hermetic plastic box with a digital hygrometer (€3.22 on amazon.fr). I try to keep the ambiant moisture in the box around 63%/64%. Then the reeds are perfect for me. Sure you can use a cotton ball with hydrogene peroxide or Listerine if it becomes too dry. @@Sirvalorsax More: link to the box picture. The lid is only placed on the box that I only close if it is too dry inside. In most cases, the humidity of the reeds played is sufficient to maintain the good percentage (close to 63/64%). I can open the lid a little bit if it’s too wet. I easily take the box in my saxophone case. This home-made ‘hygrometric’ reed case is placed on my working table, so from time to time I can check the percentage, to open or close, the lid or to add Listerine/Peroxide. Link: adobe.ly/2yVGZGM
