Reed Martin - Old Molly Hare / Mississippi Sawyer - 2003

Музыка

It's time for another clip from the very special project my father and I have been working on. This time we're going to turn Reed loose on two tunes, Old Molly Hare & Mississippi Sawyer. We hope you enjoy this look at a true master and an American treasure in action.
All the best and keep rollin,
RC

Niiiiiiiiice! Carson, Huber, Reed... Even though they all make the banjo look like a child's toy their happiness in playing is contagious! Thanks Russ!

What a treat and treasure! Thank you for posting these. Just got into clawhammer, and all I hear is how that index finger or middle finger "needs a nail" to strike the string. Doesn't seem like Mr. Martin here has any long nails, but by God listen to that strong, thumping tone!

I play the clawhammer style. I love myself bluegrass banjo but I never liked that the rolls could get repetitive, and it seemed so strange trying to play those old fiddle tunes.

Roll or Hammer... nothing as perfect as a 5-string.
