Sometimes the 'glow' around something is enough to give the impression of the entire light being that color. For example in Star Wars, every lightsaber blade is actually white, and the color is only in the glow around the blade. But the actual blade is white.
@antonliakhovitch8306
10 ай бұрын
That's a property of the camera, not the blade. The light is colored, but in the center it's so bright that the color bleeds into the other channels and appears white. This is how all cameras behave, so VFX in films like Star Wars try to emulate that look since we subconsciously expect to see it.

@@Sammysapphira Regular fire doesn't normally get white hot, but on video it looks white in the center. You can verify this by pointing a camera at a bright fire and turning the exposure waaay down so the surroundings look black - you'll see that the fire is entirely orange. If you then expose for the surroundings again, the center of the fire looks white. I've played around with this myself, but Corridor Crew's realistic lightsaber video has a pretty good discussion.

The realization about the torch with the lever was the best part of the vid lmao
I mean, technically you can see yellow/white "cores" in the center even if the flames have different colors. Like if you burn strontium(which burns in the color red) the edges are definitely red in color but the center usually is more yellower or white, or even blue since its hotter at the center 🤓

But aren't redstone torches just made of redstone, which normally glows in the dark, so there is no fire needed? That's also why they glow less, and can be used as a redstone source
@windowsxpmemesandstufflol

I think that it's probably due to the brightness washing out the camera sensors causing it to become white, or maybe significant incandescence and blackbody radiation could play a role (not about minecraft)

@@kristijanjovanovic3640 "But how does redstone torch light up forever?" same way torches do.
About 12 years ago, I was working on some minecraft animations for animation class and ripped the textures directly from the game (or substituted where it wasn't as easy with my limited texturing knowledge). I guess since I knew this for so long, I just thought everyone did! Glad everybody's figuring it out! :)
0:30 I always knew this fact. Because I used to mess around with textures and install texture packs (Mumbo's old texture pack changes the redstone torch too)
My interpretation of this is that the red circle is some sort of semi transparent red covering that lets enough enough oxygen inside for the torch to keep burning. Since the covering isn't entirely transparent, the light emitted by a Redstone torch is dimmer than an ordinary torch. Or maybe red torches look weird idk
@czpiaor

I think the red circle is just the redstone dust coating the stick. I thought redstone was like the stuff that coats matchsticks. The reason why coal torches are smaller is because the coal replaces are portion of the stick, so it stays the same size. Additionally, one coal crafts four torches, so the coal is smaller anyway. Well, the more you know. Also, to answer your question on the netherack texture, I'm not sure about the new texture but the OLD netherack texture actually was just the cobblestone texture, but bloody looking. It was even referred to as "bloodstone" at one point. Now I do know that in both textures (old and new) that the endstone texture is basically just an inverted cobblestone texture. Also about that lever thing, Terraria actually has a feature where you can disable the lighting on a torch.
The torch isn't shorter, it's just the halo colouring it red. You can see it being shaded to math the darker part of the torch.

@@fantastikboom1094 My theory for Redstone Blocks is that there's such a high density of Redstone tightly packed together, that it's constantly activating itself. Maybe Redstone Dust is the opposite? There's so little that simple interactions aren't enough? In any case, it'd be terrible Game Design if it functioned the same as Redstone Ore. And who's to say the Redstone Torch *isn't* meant to be a basic Torch surrounded by Redstone? Just 'cause the Recipe doesn't include Coal, doesn't necessarily mean it's not. Regardless, it's my own personal Theory. If you like the sound of it, great! If not, not my problem.

@@redyoshicraft While I agree with your first and second paragraphs, your third is complete nonsense. You don't even understand what you're saying, nor how nonsensical it sounds.

@@fantastikboom1094 Ok, let's look at it a different way. Where does the Metal Lock come from on a Chest? Or the Oars on a Boat? Hook & Reel on a Fishing Rod? Graphic in a Clock? Crafting Recipes are generally pretty good about including all the key details of what's being made, but sometimes stuff gets left out for simplicities sake! And that's ok! I dunno what the likelihood is that this Concept was the intended idea, and if it was I can't guarantee that they wouldn't have chosen to include Coal in the Recipe, but its exclusion hardly disproves the idea. (I didn't try to explain that line of thinking 'cause I knew it was gonna be longer than I'd like xD )

@@redyoshicraft Generally all the crafting recipes in Minecraft are showing the main materials involved. In redstone torch case it's not the case (edit: I mean with simplifying). All materials are basic and there's nothing to simplify, it's already simple recipe. It has only two components, which one is 50% of the craft. If redstone torch would have coal in it, then it would've been included in its recipe or the craft would've needed torch instead of a stick. Your point is only based of its name - it's called "torch", but that logic is just wrong. Even in real life some things called the way they are, regardless of their actual properties.
netherack used to have the same texture as cobblestone, but mojang changed it a couple of years ago to have its own texture
You have toppled my worldview, thanks.
Regular torches were the first to be implemented to Minecraft: Java Edition, it is a part of the early development phases of Indev. And they weren't as reliable not until Survival was focused on more. Redstone torches in the other hand, were first added in Alpha 1.0.1, alongside with other Redstone based items.

So?
2:10 Dude, they're literally the same height if without halo. Redstone torch isn't shorter, but LONGER because of the halo.
