Redneck Repair: "Free" Hoover ONE PWR Cordless Vacuum Cleaner That No Worky Good

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here, I try to repair a Hoover ONE PWR cordless vacuum cleaner, which is making a horrible noise when running, and the spinny part doesn't want to spin.
Note that I'm not a professional (in any sense of the word), and please don't mindlessly copy anything that I do.

Brilliant! :) This video was a huge help. I'd gotten stuck but unclipping the top panel gave access to the couple of screws that were blocking me. Different model, heck different make but similar enough to make sense. Thanks and regards from a Tom :)

Thanks, and glad I could be of help! Also, the build quality of these vacuums seems quite sub-par. The replacement that Hoover sent out also acted up within 3 months...

The official Vax repair video failed to realise that real-world gets dirty, grimly and worn. Also that there's usual more than 1 problem before 'normal' people, like my aspie self, get around to bothering to fix side-issues in our lives. Regards from a Tom :)

The "little gasket thing" might be clumped hair tightened together. I've had that a few times. Hair shouldn't be able to get in there but somehow hair gets everywhere. Regards from a Tom :)

Ahh, I lifted the front lights off the plastic cover. Luckily it wasn't glued in. I hadn't thought of unplugging from the mbord. other than that my Vax repair was identical(ish). Thanks and regards from a Tom :)

I’m having a similar issue with mine, however we stopped using it before the belt tore the gear up. We only used ours for around 3 months before this happened. It seems to be missing some sort of belt tensioner that I can only guess goes in that small rectangle under where the belt rides. And like you found Hoover doesn’t sell any parts for this. Really wanting to find a solution, but will definitely not be buying another Hoover after this

Yep, I can also confirm that the replacement that Hoover sent also failed within 3 months with the exact same problem...

hey! I was having the same issue, and found this video super helpful! the belt, and the mechanism it spins on were fine in my vaccuum--but the horrible screeching noise remains! Would you recommend some oil on the mechanism that spins the cylindrical brush? this vaccuum sucks, but i don't want to toss it since it isn't that old!

Thanks for watching, and glad I could provide some (limited) help. There's a second video where I fix the warranty replacement vacuum that was sent out (and broke three months later... so, yeah, these are not great vacuums). kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXptydSlaMLUkco.html Not sure if I'd recommend the oil, as that may just end up getting all gummy once it starts incorporating itself with dirt. But, one thing I'd recommend checking is the condition of the mating surfaces on the roller. I had to end up filing down some bumps and nicks on the surface of that second vacuum for a similar reason iirc. Also, do a sanity check to make sure all hair is cleaned off, as it's easy to miss some on the end of the roller. Lastly, the default belt that comes with the vacuum does seem to be quite loose. I even ordered some replacements thinking it was worn out, but... yeah, those belts were also loose. If you have some heavy duty tape (this is not a permanent fix), you can try winding some around the roller so that the belt fits more snugly. If that eliminates the noise, you can try getting a belt that's maybe a few mm shorter? But, yeah, I got this vacuum for free and I feel ripped off... I hope this helps you though.

My brush roller is still working but there is that same noise coming from mine. There seems to be hair caught around the main centerfuge drive which I cannot get the screw out to clean (that thingy you had to use pliers on. I can't get the backing plate off either. UGH! My model is similar but is red, not blue.

Yep, this is not a good vacuum cleaner. The replacement one that they sent out broke the exact same way three months later...

Not a good design. The bearing constant clogs with hair as others have mentioned. The screw that you could not remove is backwards (right hand thread - turn it backwards from normal to loosen). It does not have to be tight - if you over tighten it that will lock up the brush (just like the wrapped up hair - the brush rotation keeps the screw from coming loose). We like the vacuum but every other use the bearing needs to be cleaned - terrible design for a “pet vaccuum” - if you can avoid long hair that wraps up the brush bearing it works well.

100% agree. This vacuum is horrible. I got it for free, and still feel ripped off.

MIne's doing the same thing. The belt seems looser than yours. But that drive gear has lost its teeth. Will try your shrink tubing idea. What size did you use? very nice jury rig solution.

Thanks. I believe it was a 1.5" piece of tube, but am not sure of the exact type - these were offcuts that a friend passed to me.

@@DiscountSasquatch I took apart that entire brush head left and right sides and found a wad of long hair tightly wound around the spindles like a fishing reel!. The belt was ok, altho some of the drive wheel teeth were worn, I used a little bit of gaffer's tape (which has cloth-like surface). Put it all back and it works. Thx
