    THANK YOU FOR THE EXCELLENT VIDEOS AND COMMENTARY ON YOUR PROJECTS. I'M SEMI RETIRED AND NEEDED SOME ME TIME. FOUND A BUNCH OF HOT WHEELS/MATCHBOX CARS THAT THE WIFE HAD STORED AWAY FOR YEARS TO GIVE TO OUR GRANDSON. SOME ARE IN PRETTY BAD SHAPE AND I'VE STARTED TO RESTORE/CUSTOMIZE SOME OF THEM. THANK YOU, I HAVE THE COURAGE TO GO FURTHER THEN JUST PAINTING THEM. DENNIS

    In the future you can try a heat gun when stretching vinyl. I have friends who use it on full size cars, and i use it on custom computer builds, and a bit of heat and really make vinyl stretch and sit perfectly flat. great work and i like the restos!

    Very cool, I am not a collector (yet lol) but I like to pick up a old car I like now and then. like the Lesney jeep today for a dollar. However I think restoring and custom painting might be a fun Winter activitie, so next Saturday I am going to pick up a bunch of .25 and .50 cent cars.

    I like how the film looks as the roof but a simpler, easier to come by way of doing it is truck bed liner in a spray can, it will take a bit of practice to get it to spray out thin and evenly but it looks great finished, it also gives a sort of vinyl texture to the roof

    It's amazing to me, that when I was a kid (in the '60's), I had 3 shoeboxes full of all these cars... I can't believe what they would be worth now... of course most of my collection was FUBAR from playing with them hard! In the dirt and bashing down our steep driveway. lol.

    Nice vinyl roof !! I would love to know the name of the product. I will rewatch in case you mentioned it but I'm realy diggin the vinyl. I sent you a mesg about "spectra chrome" you are the pretty much the leading authority on "how to" refurbish castings and it would be cool to see you do a vidio using the spectra chrome. The equiptment needed to spray it yourself is over 5k so the obvious answer would be to find a shop that already has it and pay them but idk. I guess it may remain just a dream of mine. But if you would watch a couple vidios of spectra chrome being applied and i think you will see where I'm coming from.

    hey two things. one: you should try to play the film on a convertible that has the top down, it would add a nice detail to a car acting as a real rain cover for the top, rather than the standard plastic. another great thing is that it won't take much of the film material!. secondly I have to say that I'm inspired by you to try and start making my own customs and I was wondering if I could have an email so I can ask you some quick questions. thanks!

    Why do you only do a light coat of paint? You can still see the metal below it.. What not do extra coats and a clear coat? Regardless I love you videos!

  • @baremetalHW

    @baremetalHW

    8 жыл бұрын

    lol define light... I would guess this has on the order of 18-20 coats. The paints are very transparent... and seeing the metal underneath is what they are known for...I am not sure putting another 20 coats would do all that much... if you put on to many coats you start getting a cloudy effect in the paint.. I probably should not have clear coated this one as the clear coat makes everything even more transparent.
