Nice to see you back. I'm a mountain biker but enjoy the videos of the rougher (gravel/MTB cross over territory) and very scenic gravel rides, inspired by your video to do Daer Reservoir loop on a few days MTB trip last September and planning to do some more up there this summer. I can imagine KZread production can get frustrating, good content should be rewarded not clickbait titles that are a stretch from the actual content, and don't get me started on deliberate spelling mistakes, arrgghh! Do it because you enjoy it and know that you inspire.

Good to see you out and about again Rusty - glad you walked down there as well as me! Don’t take this the wrong way but just a note it wasn’t a “pump house’ the water is gravity fed down the way it was built by the Victorian’s as a “Valve House” I love the proportions and care they took building it, below it is an infilled aqueduct not a disused dam. - it’s amazing to come across a building like that in the middle of the woods as you cycle across the aqueduct Looking forward to more adventure videos from you

For me it’s life that gets in the way haven’t been out on either road or gravel just MTB and like you have loads of route I want to do just not locally. Also even though we all enjoy your content make sure you get out without the gear now and again and enjoy the ride🚴🏻‍♂️

Nice to see you back 🙂As with most regular viewers, I did wonder that had happened to you. You don't owe us any explanations (or anything else), but it's good to get a sense of the reasons behind it - certainly to hear that nothing (too) bad happened! I'm always amazed that people with "real" jobs find the time and energy to run a KZread cycling channel, as it seems to me to be a lot of work. It's hard enough with all the other distractions in life just to get out and do the cycling itself, so I'm very grateful for the content you do put out. I enjoy the scenic footage you produce 🙂

@@RustyRidesGravel I am curious how you manage to animate your chosen route in your videos. Is that some sort of Komoot plug-in for your editor or is it all manual work using key frames?

  • @RustyRidesGravel

It's done in the video editing software. I "paint" over the route and use key frames to animate the line appearing over the image.

Did the trail over from Comer to Cailness 25 years ago with a friend. He warned me that there was a nutjob living at Comer who would sally forth and threaten anyone on a bike with threats of all sorts. The day we did it, we had no encounter with this person but I know a guy who he threatened to shoot by "accident", as he shot deer in the vicinity on a regular basis. He is most likely dead by now, thank goodness. The property at Cailness is now falling into dissrepair, the estate seems to be unwilling to spend the cash needed to maintain it. Recently I had to take shelter in one of the outbuildings, when on a canoe trip, due to mental wind and rain. Yes the trail down to Cailness is being destroyed by lack of use and water damage due to lack of maintainence. More MTB traffic is required on this trail, it will help keep it in manageable condition.
