To understand what is happening in Kai's "Mmmh" MV, you have to first understand EXO's storyline and concept. As an SM Entertainment group member, it shouldn't be a surprise that Kai is such a great singer and performer. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to become part of its company. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their vocal and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. None of SM's rappers became a trainee because of their rap skills, all of the company's rappers learned to rap, or really became good at it, only after joining the company. That is why SM is one of the largest and most influential entertainment companies in Korea and around the world which is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. SM puts a huge emphasis on showcasing outstanding vocal talent. And EXO is a group that is a perfect example of that. Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in someway to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 9 years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet EXO and they came to Earth with superpowers on a mission to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years, we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. Kai's EXO superpower is teleportation, so what you see throughout his "Mmmh" MV is him teleporting. And, I think, at the very end scene what you are seeing is SM connecting Kai's solo storyline to EXO's storyline. You see D.O.'s power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength/force and Xiumin's power to control snow/ice/frost being used. You also see what I think is the emergence of a pyramid, which represents Kai and his superpower -- as part of EXOs storyline, all the members have a symbol that represents them. A pyramid is Kai's symbol and when you see a pyramid within EXO's storyline it represents something to do with Kai. I also find it interesting that Xiumin returned from the military about a month before this MV was released, and D.O. just returned from the military shortly after its release, so the end scene in "Mmmh" may be SM's way of connecting the events of this MV to D.O. and Xiumin's upcoming solo work as well. If you analyse all the scenes within Kai's MV you would find connections can be made to EXO's storyline and things to do with past EXO MVs and probably even future MVs, as well as SuperM's storyline. Kai is also a member of SuperM, which is the industry's very first Supergroup. As you know, SuperM's concept is that they are "The Avengers of Kpop," and the members are supposed to be superhero-like characters who are coming together to form an Avengers-like group to help EXO defeat the evil Red Force. And, like the majority of SM's groups, all of their storylines and concepts intertwin and connect. For example, in SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, you see Kai being chased by or being aided by drones as he tried to scale a building, in his attempt to stop the Red Force. So, I think the scene in "Mmmh," where you see him looking at the drones hovering around him, has something to do with connections between Kai's solo storyline and SuperM/EXO's MVs. Also, Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so as a member of EXO, Kim JongIn (Kai) was given the stage name Kai because, as the center of the group, he is supposed to be the member who connects everyone together and that is why he was given the ability to teleport. Plus, as part of EXO's storyline, it is thought that the members are traveling between dimensions and time periods throughout history in their quest to find the Tree of Life and to fix all the evil and corruption that is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, it is thought that what you see in Kai's MV is him traveling between dimensions and across time periods in his search for the other members and the Tree of Life, etc. That is why you see him in so many different locations and scenes in this MV. There is also a fan theory that the reason why we see Kai with so many different looks and styles in these scenes is because it's not always Kai that we are seeing. Another part of EXO's storyline is that some of the members have evil alter ego clones that have been created by the Red Force. (As we see introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV.) So, some theories think that sometimes we are seeing Kai's evil X-EXO clone and other times we are seeing superhero, good EXO Kai. All of the EXO members first solo songs have something to do with the fact that they are members of EXO, and their MVs and songs show them using their powers. D.O.'s recent MV "Rose" shows him using his power of force, Baekhyun's debut album City Lights and MV "UN Village" talks about his power to control light, Suho's "Let's Love" MV shows him with his power to control water, and Kai teleports all over in his "Mmmh" MV. As the first EXO member to have a solo career, the majority of Lay's solo MVs tie into EXO's storyline as well. Even in their solo work, everything EXO does is connected to their concept and storyline as members of EXO. :D Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order. So, we fans have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of everything any of the members of EXO/SuperM are involved in to try and piece it all together and figure out where each part fits within their larger storyline. And the story isn't just limited to their MVs, but it extends to everything EXO is involved in, including teaser videos, live performances, concert VCRs (videos played between sets in their concerts) and even a majority of their choreography. As you can see, EXO's and SM's Universe is extremely complicated and complex, and even the most expert of fans, has trouble following the storyline. The thing is, none of us really know exactly what is happening in the story, it's all just fan theories and educated guesses. SM has never confirmed or denied any of our theories and they have left it completely up to fans to figure out what is happening and to create the story. And oftentimes, because the story is not in order, we discover that, with the introduction of a new MV or performance, everything we thought to be true has been turned on its head and we now have to rethink everything. (We only hope that someday SM will release the book or produce a movie that will explain the whole story, so we will know whether any part of our theories were correct.) If you like Kai's dancing you have to check out his dance practice video for "Mmmh." You are going to be even more blown away when you see the full choreography. There is a reason why Kai is considered one of the BEST dancers in the industry. ;P As the main dancer of EXO, Kai is literally one of the top two best dancers in Kpop. And that's not just a fan's opinion, but it's a title given to him by his peers and the the industry as a whole. (Taemin from SHINee -- another SM Entertainment artist, who happens to be Kai's best friend since trainee days, and is a fellow member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) There is literally no one better when it comes to dance than Kai and Taemin. Kai is a fashion icon and he is highly sought after by some of he biggest names and brands in fashion to be their model and brand ambassador, etc. He is also considered one of the sexiest Kpop idols, and he is known for his super sexy onstage personality. However, when not on stage he is the complete opposite of what you see here. He is actually kind of shy and innocent and he blushes when you compliment him for his looks or his performance.

@@RM-of2oz They may have been initially chosen for their looks, but SM wouldn't have the reputation of all their Idols being outstanding vocalists and dancers that they do, if they also didn't see potential in them for more than just their looks. :D They may become trainees because of their looks, but they don't debut unless they are also talented singers, dancers and rappers as well. Name one SM idol who was chosen for their visuals that didn't turn out to be an amazing singer and dancer.

I’m glad you reacted to this! Reason is my favorite song from this album, but the whole thing is a no-skip. In case you didn’t know: According to fan theory, this falls into the EXO ‘verse. EXO and Kai (teleportation is his power), were taken at the end of Obsession, and held captive by the Red Force for observation (the giant eye, the drones, monitors, etc.) He teleports around to find the others. At the end, the rock shows two glyphs: Frost (Xiumin) and Force (D.O) signifying their return. That may be too involved, since most of EXO’s MV further their storyline rather than show what the songs are about. Too much info? True. But please enjoy the videos for what they are. I like your honest opinions!

Here is my view on it - *Everyone has their own views & opinions* OMG R.I.P everyone because I have no words since this self titled solo debut album ‘KAI’ dropped which is ALL ABOUT HIM. It’s a KILLA love song; WE ARE ALL DOOMED 👻🥰 but we don’t mind. I know everything was personally handpicked and planned out in detail by KAI using some of his own money in dedication of his father who was the driven confidence for him to take ballet & jazz training around the age of 8 years old long before he joined SM as a trainee in 2007 and debuted at 19 years old as an EXO member. I’m not trying to credit to any other artists but I can’t help it does a tad bit give me some similarity to Taemin with combination of EXO concept mixed with his own style 👀 bringing such a sexy R&B sensational feel that it’s not shown under the K-Pop column it has its own label and don’t even get me started on his fashion (ICONIC); I see the amount of inspiration KAI has gotten from movies/drama he likes. *For his first self written solo album which is about his individual EXO story but also of his experiences & struggles as a growing veteran artist. *This single track is a R&B sensational love song dedicated to show fans his deep affection for showing our love & support.* It is so exciting being able to see his teleportation superpower in use; he literally teleporting through all EXOplanet dimensions with every scene being different which I think represents each EXO member elements; the beginning gives me kind of an assassin creed mixed with mirror’s edge vibes even though it’s his own picked style Lol the space cowboy scene kind of takes me back to TXT Yeonjun’s outfit from “Blue Hour” (Kidding). I believe it’s connected to their EXO/X-EXO storyline. *I’m still trying to gather my thoughts after watching KAI’s showcase Vlive he explained this track is a gift to fans and within the MV he represents as the savior teleporting to different places trying to save us but actually the members 🥰😇 notice the quick glowing silhouette of him. He also explains the key points which are his eight-pack ABS 👻 along with dance & lyric killing parts on top of talking about his album process with each track with the meanings that he got inspiration from films & why teleportation concept is important to him which he didn’t like at first where he explains why and right toward the end when he began reading fans’ supportive comments he couldn’t help but start to cry 😭 The more I review on top of watching Baekhyun and Kai reaction, they reveal that it’s connected to EXODUS and Obsession where EXO loses to their clones X-EXO by killing themselves (breaking their own necks at the end) but they don’t really die though since Baekhyun brings them back to life starting with KAI from what I remember of the story they are locked up and KAI trying to escape to save them by teleporting his brothers while being watched by the Red Force only seeing there’s no way out and toward the end D.O & Xiumin’s elemental powers of Earth and Frost are shown given us a hint they were going to be returning from the military (they returned last year).* KAI is in full affect in his solo album where he’s expressing all of his deep emotions of gratitude toward fans and members. I just find sad the fact that people find any cultural experience an "appropriation". He's not claming he's black, he's not claiming durag is part of his culture and he didn't wear it with any negative meaning (like mocking the culture or idk). He genuinely liked it's beauty and wanted to wear it which in no place can be called cultural appropriaton. His open to try new things even feminine clothes. It feels like people don't want others to appreciate the beauty of their culture and it's kinda sad. I would be so proud and happy that other people with different cultural backgrounds are appreciating my culture by using it's beautiful items on themselves but all I see is people getting sensitive over ANYTHING.
