RedCoach, Houston to Dallas Texas, Bus Business Class Trip Report
RedCoach is an intercity bus service that serves many cities/towns in Texas and Florida. This bus promotes spacious seats and extra leg room. One of RedCoach direct routes that I took was from Houston to Dallas (bus model: Volvo 9700H). The cost for this one way ride was $35.93 USD (including taxes). OPINION:
The ride is great because it is calm, quiet, and spacious. In addition, the bus operator is friendly and professional. However, the bus arriving late or may not show up gives me hesitant to ride RedCoach. In other words, RedCoach is unreliable. I do not want to think if the bus will arrive or not. I want a peace of mind that I will arrive to my destination on that day.
The day before departure, please check the status of your bus on RedCoach website or email (RedCoach sends an email the day before departure). If you have not received an email from RedCoach, please contact RedCoach because it is most likely they have canceled your trip. On October 2022, I've reserved a RedCoach ride from Dallas to Houston. I've waited for the bus and RedCoach to Houston did not appeared. I've called RedCoach and they told me that they have cancel the trip to Houston. RedCoach did not notified me that they have canceled.
It is important to check the status on the website the day or hours from your trip. If you want a reliable trip, I would recommend flying Southwest Airlines or take Vonlane ( • Vonlane, A Luxury Bus ... ). Unfortunately , there is no Amtrak service between Houston to/from Dallas. I would ride RedCoach if they fix their communication issues with the customers.

What is red coach bus late due to traffic?

I’m not sure why. This ride was early Saturday morning and there was no traffic. The afternoon is understandable because of traffic.

How does this compare to Vonlane

Vonlane is like a luxury bus, that includes snacks, breakfast/lunch, drinks, blankets, and clean lavatory. The service is superb! On the other hand, RedCoach feels like an Greyhound Bus with extra leg room (and spacious seats) but without a bus station.

Texas does things its own way unlike the rest of the United States. Think of Texas as a state of mind where people do things their own way.
Tough going all the way around. Easier to rent a car hmm.
It’s a real shame that this bus service is so unreliable, and if it wasn’t for that, I would be using it instead of flying so much. It’s a real shame! Perhaps one day the service will be more reliable.
