I'm excited to see the journey the ascent will take with minor upgrades. Such a great way to get into the rc crawling community. Red Cat killed it.

A local guy running it added a hobbywing fusion se and a little brass and took off the bed. Won first place with a well built lcg rig as a partner in a team winch event. Pretty impressive little truck.

Great honest review. If someone does jump to a 1080 G2 and set it at 8.4v you can get 42kg out of that servo.

That's what I love about the hobby. So many different RCs show up and whether it's 1000 bucks or 200 you never know what rigs is gonna have a hard time. But they all have a good time.

Redcat has turned a corner with this one. I just hope the aftermarket sees the full potential here and gets onboard as well! Great review, as always, Logan!

It's really nice to see a KZreadr actually give a fair review I like redcat because there are a lot of people whom enjoy the hobby but can't drop 500 on a truck to get something that will keep up . This is affordable and u really well built for a comp truck especially for the price . I hate the channels that act like redcat is benith them lol just cause it's half the price of your bace price truck u sell doesn't make it less of a contender I bet u see a lot more of redcat rising up I believe this truck can keep up with the big name rtrs any day

Logan great job on the test. I really enjoyed watching it. Thank you for hitting the hard lines and not the easy stuff. The issues I can tell so far is that esc is not up the par, And should of been bead locks then we could of added brass rings or some weight up front.

If you want those tires off, pop them in a Ziploc with a cup of pure acetone for 24 to 48 hours, they'll be fall off the bone tender! Great vid of a promising looking rig.

That won't ruin the rubby tire? Make it brittle or something later on? Have you actually done it?

@@keldonator yessir, done it a number of times with Traxxas canyon trails. Doesn't degrade the rubber or the plastic, it does affect the foam, seems to stiffen it, but rinse with cold water and the foam can be used. Use caution with acetone, Eye wear and gloves. Dispose of properly. Others use a heat gun on low or the oven on low, boil them off etc.

I'm glad you talked about the articulation. Even though this truck is more capable than others, it's less pleasant to watch then a more scale truck with more flex.

Mine flips over backwards very easily!! Box stock, guess I’ll have to try the underdrive gears, I have some treal brass portal covers to on it too. See how much that helps.

I’ve definitely been on the fence since it came out. You knowledge and ability to drive on the same great terrain all the time lends to very well rounded content. I may try to get this at my local shop. This will most likely be my first tenth scale if i do decide to pull the trigger. Keep up the great work.

I'm still amazed. Did the shock mod losi mini springs and took out the inner springs. Istalled the 20% underdrive. Put some injora rims and S3 compound swamp crawlers on it, East coast. And this stupid thing is killing it! Got excited about the Vanquish vrd rtr until i out crawled it with my Redcat

great performance for an RTR. Just a few mods and it will be really competitive. You have some truly amazing rocks to crawl. happy crawling from Derbyshire's Peak District

I have every confidence your driving is just fine, lol. More likely too much movement as a result of those soft foams, making it hard to hold a line. An HW 1080 or Fusion SE seems like an obvious upgrade. Tires and wheels, some brass and take out those internal shock springs and you'll be killing some gnarly lines! 🤘

If it weren't for Red Cat's being affordable then I would never have bought a Traxxas TRX4 or the other Red Cats I've purchased since, they are who got me into the hobby.

I have some Treal aluminum wheels, I love the weight they provide

I bought the gen 7 sport on sale less then 200. Have since swapped electronics the bad transmission and added capra axles. That trucks awesome now. This thing looks awesome I might need it.

Change the title! I didn't buy one yet lol, however, I am now convinced. I also have noticed a large number of Ascent owners utilizing brass diff axle covers. Im new to crawling, so I assume the weight of this truck is a minor issue that is obviously easy to address.

It was about 6 years ago I got a 1/10 SC Red Cat Brushless for 150 bucks online brand new. It's was awesome. I traded that one for a basher.

Hope RPRC makes parts for these my brother needs a new crawler and I think this would be an awesome option for him.

1080 is nice but spend the extra 20-30 bucks and get a hobbywing fusion 1200 or 1800kv. way better control.

Add the fusion and 50 bucks to the price and I'm In on it. 100 more would be to much. Especially when you know the fusion us like 60 bucks to the public so you know they'd get them for half that

Noise is a dealbreaker😢

Redcat and Traxxas have very poor electronics installed. It is better to buy a roller and install a fusion, and then your good. Use tire weights from a tire repair place.They just throw them away, they have buckets of used weights for free. Sell this truck as a roller for about 150.00, and they would sell off the shelf. The esc and receiver, need to be relocated to the middle of the truck, and place the battery up front as much as possible. Cut the springs about 2 coils, your in business.

Could the body be trimmed off at that bottom body line?
