I honestly didn’t get the song when it was first out but now with the rerecorded version, I can finally understand the appeal. After listening to the two side by side, I think I know why there’s such a difference. Taylor has really learned how to duet with people over the years. In the original it sounded (imo) like they were trying to sing over each other which created a kind of unpleasant whiny sound, but this time they really support each other and it’s so much better.

Honestly when I saw 10 minute version I was like uhhhh…no. Not gonna listen to this. Then I did and now I absolutely cannot listen to the short version.

I remember when you first reacted to Red a couple of years ago and when it came to All too well you were like “ugh songs that are this long I’m like why🙄” but when it ended you said that it didn’t feel like it was that long, I think the magic of Taylor’s writing style is that she can skilfully narrate to you so that you can’t feel the length of the song cause you get lost in the story, not everyone can pull off long songs because you need to have GREAT lyrics, something that these days is quite rare in mainstream music

Okay, when she says "The only real thing you've ever known" they're showing a very familiar kiss, the spiderman kiss. Jake Gyllenhaal dated Kristen Dunst who we all know played Mary Jane. There's an old interview of Jake saying that he'd only fallen in love once, he was talking about Kristen. I think young Taylor was referring to herself when she said that, but now, old Taylor looks back at it and knows it wasn't her, so maybe it could be a nod to that, or maybe I'm just overthinking it. But also, in the spiderman movies, Mary Jane is the one who initiates the kiss with first Peter, and then another love interest as if trying to have the same magic, the same spark but after it happens, she realizes it's not the same.

The Last Time is truly such a heartbreakingly beautiful song, when you said "i'm gonna cry" i was like girl me too. Also Better Man fucked me up, it really captures the complexity of missing and leaving an emotionally abusive relationship

I feel like every single song on the album with the addition of ATW10 and the vault tracks just tell so much more of a complete story about their relationship! It just ties it all together and gives so much more context.

I love Taylor’s music and the fact that it comes from the personal place and I didn’t know about this being about Jake until this 10 minute version came out. I’m a Broadway kid at heart and have always been a huge fan of Jake and his work! He has always been a supporter and advocate and I admire that. I feel just because I support Taylor music and how she writes from a real personal place means I have to hate Jake. I’m sure he made mistakes in that three month relationship. An age difference can be hard and being with someone so famous and being such a private person like he I’m sure caused many problems. I think of it as it takes two to create a relationship and also make it work. As much as he was the older one, and honestly idc about the age because there are many married people well over ten years apart and so in love. My parents are ten years apart. I just think we don’t know the whole story. Only Taylor’s side and how she interpreted those 3 months. We don’t know anything from how Jake felt. I say support her without canceling or bashing someone we don’t have all the facts about. We don’t know what happened fully, we only have one side, but doesn’t mean we can’t support her craft! Respect your opinions tho and I like your analysis of the lyrics, shows you’re a true fan! Let’s just not be so hasty to judge and bash ppl without all the facts. More love and support👏🙏🙂 People grow and make mistakes, it was 11 years ago since that 3 month relationship.

@@jacobmccain8794 "i say support her without canceling or bashing someone" bro nowhere in that comment did i say a single bad thing about jake 😭 i literally just explained the meaning of the lyrics and gave no personal opinions. btw a ten year difference between full grown adults it's not the same as that age gap between someone who's basically still a teenager (she wasn't even 21 when they started dating, couldn't even drink) and someone pushing 30! it's weird and shouldn't be excused, specially considering how to this day his girlfriends are still in their early twenties while he's 40 😊

As some fans mentioned it, the sections of the short film being titled as chapters was a foreshadowing to Her becoming an author 😭😭 and how we've actually been following her narrative through her book 😭

Oh and I don't know if you've seen this but on an interview, so she was doing rehearsals for tour and she was really sad so one day she went into the studio and she just sat with the band and started singing all too well she was just speaking from her heart and the band was playing along. That's the original 10-15 minute version. And she just left but her mom went to the studio people and was like "hey, you don't maybe have a recording of that?" and they did so that's how we got all too well. And then she had to decide between better man and all too well for the album and chose the chopped up version of All Too Well instead.

Ashley. Girl. You can't keep skipping the acoustic versions when they're better than the original ones. State of Grace and Forever and Always acoustic are MASTERPIECES

I LOVED Girl at Home (Taylor's version). I honestly thought the original sounded like a demo. You're totally right though about Jack being written all over it I screamed

I recognize every bit of effort u put into these videos and this one is like 40 minutes long and it was funny and fun as hell and immaculately edited, thank you so much Ashley. And yeah i really enjoyed this rerecording. The standard version of red still feels weird to me, im so used to the old version, but i loved the vault tracks even more than the ones kn fearless and the short film was such a huge bonus that was insanely well made and pulled off and really encompasses the feeling of all too well and feels so compatible to the whole album

Can I just say Ash perfectly represents all of us when we listen to Holy Ground. I will never not dance/skip/jump aggressively when i listen to it!

I know that the swifties don't talk too much about Ronan because it's meaning and I understand that, I'm new to the fandom and I didn't listen Red when it came out, so I listened to it when Red TV came out and Ronan was the song that hurt me the most, and it's not just because it has a really sad backstory, it's just that I relate to the lyrics so much and they are a big help for me rn, my dad died 5 months ago, it's going to be 6 in 3 days and I just miss him so much, he didn't die because of cancer, he die because kidney failure and it was so hard because I saw him getting weaker in his hospital bed for 3 months, I heard his screams of pain on my 18 birthday and it was a slow process of waiting the best just to be crying the next day because nothing good was happening. Sorry, this is the first time that I talk about this since everything happen, what I wanted to say is that Ronan it's a really wonderful song and we should support it more, because we can bring much more awareness about cancer and other horrible diseases that can take away our loved ones.

When I first originally heard of RED, it didn't hit for me because I felt like it she's diving into so many sounds that it short circuited my unprepared brain but over time and the fact that I experienced my first heartbreak, I grew to love the album. For me RED encapsulated the mess and disorient that my heartbreak left me in, the tracks reflected the feeling of having every emotion all over the place. It amazes me how the record showed me the process of letting the pain out, feeling it and learning to let it go because finally I was healed.
