Getting old is weird…seems like just the other day that I was admiring him as a young kid growing up and now the HOF. HOF are always special but sometimes they just feel different…better, this is one of those times

Same it’s super weird that all these stars we watch are retired in HOF and now their son are in the league at same age as me.

That’s just the truth.. Moreover, in reference to PEDs.. How was Ortiz’s performance enhanced by avoiding 12-15 THOUSAND innings in the field.. The example I use is Frank Thomas, who got in in year one, while Jeff Bagwell had to wait 7 years.. Anyone who believes Thomas was a better player than Bagwell is an idiot.. That guy was a 5-tool superstar..

For people who actually watched him play, and watched him win playoff series almost single handedly with nothing but his bat, the decision to let him in was the only one to make. Your opinion doesn’t matter, and it’s not because society is collapsing. It’s because you just don’t matter in terms of HOF votes. It’s a broken popularity contest anyway. Tons of guys who deserve to be in either aren’t or had to wait a while to get in. They made the right call here though
My god do I miss watching him and Manny hit the ball. That duo was unstoppable, Ortiz is such an outstanding hitter and and was so lovable in Boston. Congrats Papi!!!

@@maxscameraguy 2003 on report of 100 mlb er s who tested positive for PEDs...his was some type of steroid. No shame ...many did it... I'm a Yanks fan ..we had alot.. However press and fans tend to favor Sawx...and Commissioner buffoon hired an "indy" former politician to investigate...Mitchell..oh ..and he was on Boston Red Sox ownership board. So of course there were alot of Yanks and no Red Sox initially... But the truth always comes out.

@@drwalka10 yes, I think in 2003. Although it’s unfortunate he used those substances I think some of his achievements make up for it. Also, the steroid/PED tests were supposed to remains anonymous. But according to Ortiz, too many Yankees tested positive for the that test in 2003. The NY Times weren’t too happy, and they leaked David’s test in return. 🤷♂️

@@drwalka10 no not technically. In 2003 they hadn’t determined what were legal and illegal substances so the held testing on players to see what they wanted to eliminate the following year. From 2004- retirement he tested every year and never failed

@@ChamonyTejada I watched both play in their respective careers. David's numbers may be better than Edgar but those Red Sox teams were always competitive, and could have won without Ortiz. Edgar contributed more to Seattle because he was a HUGE part of their limited successes. It is not always about numbers my friend, but I respect your opinion. Have a good evening!

Pirates fan here, it was dark times in the early 2000s, but Big Papi and the Red Sox finally getting the best of the Yankees kept me watching MLB. There was nothing better than those 03-04 series' and playoffs and Boston has had a special place in my baseball fandom ever since. Gratz Papi

I watched this guy his whole career. I tried to find one thing to describe him. The one thing that kept coming to mind was "Mr. Clutch". One of the greatest hitters of all time, and perhaps the greatest DH of all time.

As a Blue Jays fan, David Ortiz is one of my favorite players that played on a division rival team, any sport. One of the most clutch hitters, especially during playoffs, of all-time. So much respect for him as a player and a person. Congrats, Big Papi.

I sat behind home plate at Fenway during his last season. I remember him standing in the box so vividly it’s hard to believe that was 6.5 yrs ago now
What can I say that hasn't already been said Big Papi was the most clutchest player of that era if not ever in MLB and it was an honor to watch him play on TV and in person. Thank you David and congrats on your Hof induction you truly deserve it and Boston will always be your City

I watched David play for the entirety of my childhood. He is part of the reason I love baseball as much as I do very happy for him and I am happy that he will be remembered forever as one of thr best. Nothing but love for Big Papi.

Fun Guy and a very clutch hitter...Andy Pettitte is a very nice guy , mostly clutch...both cheated...One was honest about it...the other ones living a lie...And all that support Big Juicy's lie are the reason why this country moral compass is effed. Baseball s taking the HIT ...they ve ruined that what made the Game unique, have crippled the product w no on field action or motion and Make Millions and Billions and its not enough MLB will go the way of Boxing and will be 5th most popular sport by 2040.
