Red Runner Wood Processor BROKE

I broke my Red Runner, with almost 150 hrs on the clock this week was my first major breakdown.
I explain what broke, why it broke and how I fixed it.

Since this part broke once I would order another for a spare so when it breaks again you can fix in an hour instead of weeks later. Reduce your downtime! Also, it looks like some of those hoses at the back rub sharp edges which eventually will cut your hoses or wires. Use pool noodles or tape around the hoses or wires to protect them. Obviously it’s built as cheap as possible but a little maintenance and slight improvements looks like it will go a long way.

For sure. It's a decent machine but not without issues. Preventative maintenance goes a long way

Wow most interesting. You are patient. I have the deluxe with less hours than you - now the cylinder pushing the wood won’t come out and the saw no longer works - all suddenly while I was working. Very annoying - I don’t know how to fix that. Dealer 2 hrs away suggests I bring the Red Runner to him.

Very informative review. Any chance to share those part numbers to save a little frustration if others have similar issues?

Interesting cause to the parts failure. Bigger processors like a Japa goes 4-5 cords or so on one chain sharpening. Also don't forget to adjust the raker depth, same as you'd do on a chainsaw. (Am sure you know this, just saying for other people new to firewood and stuff)

Thanks for watching and comments, yes I use the Shtil sharpener which does it all for me in one pass, I have enjoyed your channel and insights.

Would you still recommend this unit? I am thinking about pulling the trigger on this one but wondering if I should be looking at other units that cost a bit more (which I would prefer not to do).

Yes Travis I would still give it a buy rating. Compared to other competitors this model is nearly half price. Like anything it does have a few short falls, but they are easy to fix, and if you know the weaknesses in advance you can be prepared. So yes I would 100% buy again. I mean I would love a $50,000 commercial model but that simply is not in the budget.

I too had moments that I believed that there was a pressure issue when it came to pushing the bar down, but I have found when that happens it is a clear indicator that the chain is dull. Change the blade and it will go right through the same log. Actually the more you talk about this unit the more obvious its badly designed and cheaply made..so many problems you pointed out on all your videos combined

Thanks for watching and your reply. Are there days this thing pisses me off yes, are there short falls yes, is it perfect HECK no. Has it paid for it self in all the cords of wood I have sold, yes, has it made my life easier - big YES. This is a not a commercial unit, it’s a “homesteader unit”. But I use a lot often putting in 8 hr days running. The unit does require daily adjustments, clearly has some short falls on engineering. But the quality is actually pretty impressive.
