    @@CaetsuChaijiCh I have been maining rdm since ew came out, completed p1s-p8s and DSR on it, currently also progging TOP. With lvl90 rotation you can fit 2 verholy/flare and 3 scorch and resolutions within the 30 seconds of the pot, pot has to be used after the first verholy/flare at the end of the first melee combo, it's very high risk high reward though, you need to not use manafication before the burst window and also have at least 71 on both mana, so getting killed by anything while carrying that much represents a really high loss, it's usually only done once per savage fight opting to instead use the first pot on the opener (if the fight lasts longer than 8 minutes you can do 2 triple resolution combos in it), ultimates are an entirely different beast though

    This sounds about right yeah, careful use of manafication, precise timing on the tincture since the combo takes right around 12.5 seconds to do, and the best part is the latter part. I believe the primary concern I've heard is that saving that much mana can for some encounter mean you lack mobility, but just like how black mages can optimize to the point of not needing triple cast for mobility in fights, surely red mages can stockpile their melee combos! 😊

    I'd say that every job that relies on a lot of casting spells is by default harder than the jobs that don't. Not cuz their rotations are hard, BM's rotation is very simple for instance, but positioning urself in the fight, dodging the mechanics while ALSO keeping the dmg coming is a real challenge. It feels very good when u succeed tho.

    If you are teaching the general-purpose opener without including the use of a potion, you can omit the last seven inputs, as they are part of the rotation. This might make it easier for some people. However, potion usage in the opener has been very specific for nearly every fight in this expansion, so the general-purpose opener is more suited for training dummy practice. Reference the balance if ever concerned about when to use a pot. Also using fleche and contre sixte earlier in the opener nets you an additional use more often than you think. Gambling for a proc, or doing a jolt isn't gonna hurt your parse unless you have a 99.9% proc rate.

  • @CaetsuChaijiCh

    @CaetsuChaijiCh

    10 ай бұрын

    Thank you! 😁 Openers are generally designed to make sure the strongest part of your kit lands when everyone is using their raid buffs. This is typically done around 7-8 seconds into a fight. After the double verthunder, your next gcd (which is enchanted riposte after manafication) lands riiight around the 7-8 second mark. Your full melee combo with magic burst takes around 12.7 seconds to perform, so if you delay this combo one gcd longer, then resolution will, when done perfectly, land 0.2 seconds outside raid buffs. At least on paper, as most raid buffs only last 15 seconds! In practice it can also just be beneficial to start your rather long burst slightly sooner. Saving an acceleration for later can also be helpful as it allows you to add an instant spell to adjust your gcd to match with fleche and contre sixte so they come out on time! As long as acceleration isn't sitting on both charges, there is no loss necessarily in sitting on one of them incase you need it! I hope this helps! 😊

    Surprisingly, RDM rotation is almost perfectly timed to the millisecond. That being said, as long as you do your opener correctly, you should never come into a situation where you aren't using Fleche or CS on CD. Also, the opener is VERY flexible. Most times, as long as you get either a stone or fire proc, you never need to use SC or Acceleration because your mana is gonna be uneven, which allows you to use your ogcd skills for movement, raising, or when you don't get natural procs. It's also worth mentioning that it's ideal to have your mana within 5-8 of each other at all times unless you can't avoid it.

  • @CaetsuChaijiCh

    @CaetsuChaijiCh

    Жыл бұрын

    That is an interesting point! I assume what you mean is that when played optimally, fleche and contre sixte lines up efficiently with your dual casts naturally, or during a melee combo such that you can adjust accordingly! Or swift cast and acceleration being used for other utility reasons on the regular also helps! The reason I am assuming it is optimized is because a melee combo itself takes an uneven amount of gcds to perform, so either fleche / contre sixte are used during it, or you may need to use acceleration or swift cast to adjust accordingly - but if you only use melee combos in specific timings to match with fleche and contre sixte, this might not be a problem 😊

  • @Michael-qk7cs

    @Michael-qk7cs

    @@CaetsuChaijiCh Exactly right! You can tell when your gcd's see off based purely on the proc during the opener. It kinda sets the timing for the rest of the fight. As long as you know which opener proc pattern you get, you'll know exactly where your ogcd timings will land. I don't know if that makes any sense but that's how it works lol. I've mained RDM for so long that it's all reflex now 😅

This attack does aoe damage in a donut shaped aoe where your target is in the ring aoe, as far away from you as possible, just to make it as confusing as possible! Also it does slightly more damage than resolution, and it's gcd is specifically 2.7 so that it just barely messes too much with your gcd that fleche and contre sixte might drift out. Impact is also an aoe spell, but it is actually useful already on just 2 targets! Enchanted reprise is a very expensive movement utility as it offers you instant damage while running, but it costs white and black mana so it is used sparingly. RDM has always confused me. Not that it's difficult to me, but that the key optimisation is GCD displacement and NOT managing your procs is weird. You just get so many procs from the rotation and if you do double, or even triple, sword combo. You end up being unable not to overwrite procs. And having to overwrite procs because you just get too many makes my brain annoyed. I think i'd like it if RDM's procs happened less often, but instead then dealt more damage for each proc.

    @@CaetsuChaijiCh I like the concept of the dualcast system and going into the melee combo. The issue is, from level 70 onwards the class does not get ANY real additions to its rotation. It is literally just a buff and continuing to press the same button more times. All the complexity of the class lies from one-off random oGCD's. Which IMO is extremely lazy design. It's SQEX way of quickly adding more things to do without having to come up with something creative or interesting. RDM has 4....1 single target & 1 aoe, (w/ other classes, these usually share the same CD), and then 2 separate CD's w/ 2 stacks repositional skills. If you take away the oGCD's that are pretty much the least interesting skills in the game, all thats left is the extremely simple dualcast system and a 1-2-3-x-x-x melee combo. It just seems like SQEX hasn't had any creative ideas for this class since STB. It's honestly more boring than SMN....

What do you mean, 'the enemy can beat my ass while I cast all of this?'" You cannot do the same thing you do on a dummy that doesn't defend itself against live enemies who will attack you. Not once did I see you use Surecast.

    If you are in a raid group, the tank is surely taking the hits for you. In most raid encounters, whether being far away or close to the boss is safer varies from fight to fight - some fights will regularly do a Donut AoE demanding you come up close, other times they will do Circle aoes. But given the sheer size of the melee attack range of bosses these days, you will often be in melee range while still standing outside circle AoEs. The simple fact that you are in melee range doesn't automatically cause the boss to swing at you. If it did, what would be the point of Melee DPS jobs? The reason Corps á Corps is used after Redoublement is because, first off, you won't need it to close the distance: Those ~7.5 seconds where you are instant casting verthunders gives you the opportunity to walk 45 yalms of distance should you wish to do so (Corps á Corps having a 25 yalm range for comparison) The second reason is that while your Embolden buff does not buff your own physical damage (Note that Corps á Corps is a physical attack and not magic), every single other raid buff does (including another Red Mage's Embolden). In other words, we are delaying Corps á Corps to use it during the time frame where it maximizes its damage, which is the point of an opener like this 😊 Finally, while Surecast does prevent spell interruption from damage, it is only under exceptional circumstances this would be necessary to use.

    @@CaetsuChaijiCh I see... So the incentive is benefitting from other party buffs, which you could not being far away from the group. The AoE buffs being affected by such a small radius now make things complicated too.

    @@Ludsama Hmm, both yes and no. You walk in close such that you are closer to your team which both makes you easier to heal, and makes it less likely that you miss out on raid buffs. But also because you know you need to be in melee range for the Melee Combo. And Corps á Corps *itself* benefits from the raid buffs, so using it to move in close, when you could've done so without spending it, is sort of a waste of potential free extra damage. The area of effect of raid buffs are actually surprisingly large these days, but if you hang out in Narnia for no reason, this is going to cause problems for your team - I go over this in more detail in other videos, but being really far away from enemies does not actually make you any safer than being up close in a boss fight, because boss mechanics could hit anywhere anyway 😊

    I hope there's an easy way for people who have hard difficulty to remember job rotation like me 🥲 this is why I play PvE content less since endwalker and stick to pvp only 😭 I will definitely use your guide if I have the time to learn though xD

    Remember, openers like this aren't required for the vast majority of content, and doing what you can is good enough! It is mostly for current savage raids, ultimates, and to some degree extremes, where openers like this are sort of expected ☺ It takes time to learn these openers, even more to memorize them well enough to do them outside of practice, so don't feel discouraged if this feels difficult! 😊
