I'm With You available here: smarturl.it/getrhcpimwithyou
Video directed by Marc Klasfeld and shot in New Orleans, Louisiana in homage of longtime RHCP friend, Brendan Mullen.
Mullen is best known as the founder of the Hollywood punk rock club The Masque that he set up and ran from 1977 until it was shut down in 1978 due to the city's refusal to issue the necessary permits to run it as a legal nightclub. After it's closure, Mullen spent many years booking shows for Club Lingerie. It was during this time he met Anthony Kiedis and Flea and after hearing their demo, Mullen offered them an opening slot on a Bad Brains show. The Red Hot Chili Peppers credit him as one of their first major supports and giving them their start. Through his support and the many nightclubs he worked out the scene gave birth to not only the Red Hot Chili Peppers but bands like The Go-Go's, X, The Weirdos and The Germs.

"Brendan's Death Song" Lyrics:
If I die before I get it done will you decide?
Take my words and turn them into signs they will survive,
Because a long time ago I knew not to deprive.
It's safe out there now your every where just like the sky,
And you are love, you are the lucid dream you are the ride
And when you hear this you know it's your jam it's your good bye
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
And when the drummer drums he's gonna play my song to carry me along
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
And when the boatman comes to ferry me away to where we all belong
We all cross when when were feeling lost it's just the time.
Kateri cried the day her lover died, she recognized,
Because you gave her a life of real love it's no surprise.
The nights are long but the years are short when you're alive,
Way back when will never be again it was a time.
It's gonna catch you so glad I met you to walk the line.
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
And when the drummer drums he's gonna play my song to carry me along
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
And when the boatman comes to ferry me away to where we all belong
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone,
And when the drummer drums he's gonna play my song to carry me along.
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone,
And when the boatman comes to ferry me away to where we all belong.
Let me live, so when it's time to die, even the Reaper cries.
Let me die so when it's time to live another sun will rise.
Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
And when the drummer drums he's gonna play my song to carry me along
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
And when the boatman comes to ferry me away to where we all belong
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone
Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone

Actually, Brendan Mullen died on VERY FIRST day rhcp were going to rehearse with Josh. When Anthony came to rehearsal he delivered the news to band that they just lost Brendan. And then they started playing without really talking. Out of that jam was basis for ''Brendan's Death Song''. So this song is like a new beginning of RHCP era.

I remember the first time Red Hot Chili Peppers played in Chile in 1999, with some friends after the concert we went to the hotel where they were staying to see if we could say hello, i remember that Flea greeted us from the lobby of the hotel and made signs with his hands so that we went into the hotel, the hotel guards did not let us in, after a while Chad Smith came out and greeted us and took some pictures with some fans, great guy, i think Red Hot Chili Peppers despite the fame has always maintained a closeness attitude with people and the spirit of their beginnings is still in them.

[Verse 1] If I die before I get it done, will you decide? Take my words and turn them into signs that will survive Because a long time ago, I knew not to deprive It's safe out there and now you're everywhere, just like the sky And you are love, you are the love supreme, you are the rise And when you hear this, you’ll know it’s your jam, it’s your goodbye [Chorus] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the drummer drums He's going to play my song To carry me along Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the boatman comes to ferry me away To where we all belong [Verse 2] We all crossed when we were feeling lost it's just the time Kateri cried the day her lover died she recognized Because he gave her a life of real love it's no surprise [Chorus] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the drummer drums He's going to play my song To carry me along [Bridge] Let me live so when it's time to die even the reaper cries Let me die so when it's time to live another sun will rise I said yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I said yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! [Chorus] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the boatman comes to ferry me away To where we all belong [Outro] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone

Stop with the "debate" between frucsiante and klinghoffer, jhon was amazing, but so is josh, john decided to make his own ideals and josh is doing an amazing job with the peppers.mayber josh is not at the same level as john, but he is damn good, and if you dont like it, you are free to stop listening them.

I was listening to Pandora in the shower, crying hysterically over my teenage son whom I lost in a motorcycle accident two weeks prior. This song started playing and I felt a calmness wash over me...a warmth of sorts and it felt as though he was hugging me...crazy as it sounds and I being a "non-believer" -I know it sounds crazy. I turned off the shower to find the name of the song and couldn't believe it...because my sons name was Brendan...BCP. Anyhow...I just wanted to put out there how much this song means to me now I believe my son used this song to reach out to me.
