In this video, we discuss different sight options. Having had multiple questions from subscribers, wondering what sights are the best … or do I need a certain type of sights, we share some observations and feedback.
The application of Iron sights or red dots can be mission specific. Or, they can be simply a personal preference.

Good video, I agree with all your points. Having backup irons are a definite must have. I prefer green dot optics, along wirh either a green or orange front post.

I really appreciate how you have a good reason for the way you configure the sights on your pistol. Being older, I can relate to the eyesight issues and the difficulty of picking up that front sight. For me, the simpler, the better. I have a set of Ameriglo night sights on a G43X that have the tubes in the rear and the tritium tube surrounded by the big orange circle up front. I absolutely hate 'em. They're great sights but I find it confuses my vision in wierd and uncomfortable ways. (Not a great description, but the best I can do to put it into words.) With pistol optics, the entire sight picture becomes too busy for my tastes. Sounds stupid to most people, I guess, but the standard Glock-style rear goal post with large front white dot (in steel) works best for me. I find that set up simple to train to, simple to use, extremely accurate at ranges beyond what a criminal court would recognize as justifiable self-defense ranges, and very visible (although blurred) when I'm focused on a target with both eyes open. To each their own. Great video and POV. Cheers.

Sir, thank you so much for the feedback. I have red dots on a few of my pistols, but primarily lean toward iron handgun sights. That being said, it is helpful to have multiple options. As an instructor, I get the opportunity to teach people using all sorts of different tools and knowing how and why each thing might or might not work. It’s all mission specific to me. Anyway, I really appreciate your candor and feedback. Hopefully you will not unsubscribe from this channel simply because we provided a topic that wasn’t of interest. All the best and stay safe.

I'm not a fan of optics on pistols either, and prefer iron sights - as the presenter indicates he does as well in many applications. I sub'd this channel because the presenter offers an opportunity for honest, respectful discussion when it comes to these kind of issues, and I think we'd be missing a lot to just walk away because someone doesn't necessarily affirm our preconceived notions. We should value that kind of discussion and promote it. That would challenge You Tube in general to actually get better. Cheers.
