Beretta APX Yes or No?

Ойын-сауық

Beretta released the APX in 2017.
This pistol shown in this video is an unissued / unfired police trade from Brazil. We review the APX and share what we like and what we don't. Not sure if it's just the pistol we tested or all APX pistols, but this on had a terrible trigger.
Key Features:
Glass-fibre reinforced technopolymer barrel
Ambidextrous
Reversible magazine release button
White dot sighting system
Picatinny rail
The lightweight barrel is made of a fibreglass-reinforced technopolymer.
The APX's extreme low profile and design free of ledges and sharp corners makes it extremely easy to carry and extract from the holster.
On both sides of the barrel the bolt catch lever has been positioned for better operability even by left-handed shooters.
The safety on the trigger prevents unintentional actuation of the trigger if the pistol is dropped. When the trigger is intentionally pulled, the safety is immediately deactivated.
In order to facilitate left-handed shooters, the magazine release button is easily reversible from either side.
Thanks to a new system registered by Beretta, the pistol adapts to different types of hands, with interchangeable grips of different sizes and customisable configurations.
The pistol comes standard with a Picatinny slide under the barrel.

My APX pistols trigger pull is between 4 to 5 pounds. Love them ! Both are good shooters.

Sir, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I think the one I got just happens to have a trigger that was designed for law-enforcement and as such it has an extremely mushy and heavy trigger pull exceeding 9 pounds. I know many people do like the APX and I’ve had great success with them. I appreciate you sharing your perspective. If you haven’t already, I hope you will subscribe to the channel and share it with friends and family.

I found the firing pin safety plunger spring to be much too heavy. I polished the safety plunger and cut the spring. You can easily make another spring if in a pinch. My trigger pull went from excess of 8-10 lbs to 6lbs. I changed out the firing pin spring for beretta’s competition firing pin spring( the green one) on the trigger went to about 5lbs. Reshaped the sear with a dremel and got rid of the creep. It’s a solid 4 1//2 lb trigger now. I am surprised someone hasn’t done a video on such a easy fix for a heavy trigger (if you get one )instead of throwing your hands up in the air and selling the gun.

You raise some great points. I guess for me I’m looking for a pistol that will perform with a decent trigger out of the box. If I have to invest additional time and energy, trying to get it right, that says something about that particular firearm. It’s very possible. I just happen to get one that was designed for police and had a very bad trigger. Many people swear by this pistol and have had great success. Thank you so much for commenting.

I have 2 APX & APX A1. I love them both, reliable and very accurate. 5-6 pound trigger. You talk about looks to a Glock fan boy. The Berettas rock. Maybe you can post a 1000 round review on yours. 😊

Thanks for sharing. Ultimately it comes down to the individuals skill with whatever firearm they choose. I’ve owned a lot of different firearms over the years and find myself gravitating to those that fit my hand, provide reliability and accuracy. I’m pretty agnostic as far as brand, make or model. This particular version of the Beretta APX, just had an absolutely horrible trigger. It exceeded 8 pounds. Now I have to admit it was made for the Brazilian military or police and perhaps that was the spec. Nevertheless, it was absolutely awful. Still there are a large number of people who are are huge fans of the pistol and have had great success with it! Really comes down to whatever works. At the end of the day it’s ultimately a personal decision of what works for the individual operator. Whatever tool is chosen folks need training, practice, and more of both to become proficient with the tool they have chosen. I really appreciate you taking time to watch and comment and hope you will subscribe and share the channel with friends and family. All the best and stay safe.

Seems to be a hit or miss situation. Some people have had great success, especially with the latest edition. I think they put in a better trigger or maybe it just evolved a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The USPc your buddy was issued, did you fire it live? The LEM trigger is strange, it’s DAO _kinda._ If you dry fire it without having racked the slide first, it will be extremely heavy and right in line with the 13lb pull you described. But in usage when the pistol is racked or chambered or whatever, it will precock a second notch inside the hammer and you will have a super spongy pull but at about 7lb in weight. Subsequent shots will also have the same pull. H&K’s LEM is a tough beast to tame 😂

Great, reliable, straight shooting pistol. Must be a defective trigger. Mine is perfect. Better than a Glock, other you tube videos have it between 4-5 pounds.

From what I heard from AIM Surplus on their video the springs are different. Not sure which ones but it could be the striker spring having a heavier pull among other things.

Excellent point! I also wonder if this set of pistols had a particularly heavy pole as they were issued to the Brazilian police. Smith and Wesson did a very similar thing with their state issued MP pistols to the Massachusetts state police. These triggers were absolutely awful.
