With a voice that could either hit you like a hammer or caress you to sleep Brandi covers a legend like she's lived every line she's singing. She owned it for sure. Totally captivating

Red Dirt Girl is one of my favorite songs. I've never heard it sang with so much passion and she sings every word plainly, perfectly. Great job young lady.

The cover by First Aid Kit is superb.

Brandi is insanely talented

Brandi just gets better as time goes by.

She always gives me chills.

I first heard this, after a terrible birthday,in the car coming home from work. I loved it so much I had to pull over and cry. I'm glad this version is on KZread.

I caught the rebroadcast today and it made getting stuck in traffic worth it!

The greatest singer. Ever.

Brandi is an amazing vocalist! I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting her about 20 years ago, continuing to go to every concert I possibly could! Then had the amazing pleasure of meeting her again 4 years ago! The first time I met her, was when her first CD was coming out Brandi Carlile! She speaks from my heart as she does from many peoples hearts! I could never put all my feelings into words without her, with her I have a safe outlet when things are too much!!!

Haven't heard her for a year or two, she is getting better over time, and she was already terrific!

i visit this song any time i need a nice heartbreak.

She's brilliant. My favorite interpretation of this song.

This is Emmy Lou’s song. Brandi does a great job, made it her own

I heard this the first time on the album Emmylou did with Mark Knopfler; this is as good a cover as anyone can ask for.

Brandi, I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I'm from West Central Texas and I know that red dirt line, and the endless falling of the bottomless blues.... Shit, you nailed so many things in this song, it blows me away every time I see this clip. Shalom

A little Southeast of Meridian is a town named Pushmataha, Alabama, a little further is Butler. The lyrics of this song capture the area well. Emmy Lou must have at least passed through. Brandi nailed the performance. One of my favorites.

I can never decide which verse of this song is the saddest. Brandi Carlile does a great job here, surprising no one.

I didn't know of Brandi Carlile before looking for Red dirt girl covers... in my opinion even better than Emmylou Harris's beatiful, so beatiful original version...

I wish she would record this!

It wasn’t the pacing it was the wierd ass rhythm she was playing in…guitarists somehow have begun to think just any version of travis picking is bluegrass standard…it is not and this is a mess

Thank you. My body wants the guitar to match the voice. Its intentional but it distracts from a perfectly told tragic story.
