@@user-cr9wp2ib4w i watched a video on a channel that deals with early leaks and stuff like that about rdr2 and based on various thing they presented and interpreted, the game started in Blackwater, as prologue sort of way and then you had the whole escape thing in Amberino (some outside parts of the map and extra story details from wikis and stuff, when pieced together can show the escape path). Now the released version of the game starts towards the end of that escape where they are nearly in Colter

It's the story of revenge and outlaws.It's the story of a man who killed and robbed for his and his crew's survival. In short it's the story of a cowboy who being ruthless outside was kind inside and was always loyal to the person who took him as a child. He gave his everything to the person and stayed loyal to him till his last breath. I don't want to give you spoilers so i recommend that you play and learn by yourself.

It's good, but not the greatest

It's incredibly nostalgic to look at this now after experiencing this game and going through so much in life. It not only gave me the best gameplay experience, it gave me something to hang on to, and (it may sound silly) it made me learn so much about life and what truly matters, how people can change from one second to the other and how unfair it may be. When I lost Arthur, a familiar feeling came over me, of grief, that I had never experienced before for a game. It was like he was truly alive and it rendered me numb for a couple of days, and I couldn't believe how deeply I was feeling. Rockstar is the best game developer out there and nothing will compete with their storytelling, ever.

There was definitely a lot of people excited to play as Arthur. He has such a domineering aura in the trailers and Roger Clark’s southern drawl is absolute cowboy gold. I know my friend and I predicted he’d be good, although we didn’t think he’d be as good as John. No one could’ve predicted he would’ve been even better.

Facts

This is going to sound strange but as a 20 year old girl I had never played any game other than the sims. During the middle of a depressive episode I randomly started playing this game at my boyfriends house one night. I felt so connected to it for some strange reason and literally took the game and the entire gaming console home with me that night. The game literally gave me a reason to get out if bed in the morning until I was eventually able to get the help I needed. Thank you Rockstar

I know the feeling. Actually, gaming has saved me from going crazy on a series of occasions regarding relationships. The first time was when I was crazy in love with a girl in high school and she broke up with me without telling the reason why - on a coincidence, my parents were gone for 3 days, and all these 3 days I spent playing a game I liked at the moment. It kept me occupied, kept my mind off the pain, helped me go through the worst of it and helped me deal with the rest of it. At that moment I realized that the best way to handle pain was to keep yourself busy, and videogames suit this purpose like nothing else. Almost 20 years later I break up with a girl I've been together for 10 years and lived for 5 because, as it turned out, we had different goals in life - and RDR2 is among the things that helped me going through the impact of the breakup on me. And at the same time, it gave me new emotions, a new experience and new things to think about. I'm a gamer myself, so it may sound like a videogame advertisement, but I advise all not to underestimate the power of a great story and great gameplay, especially when your own real world is falling apart and you need something to focus on to get through some hard times. And, just to leave it out there, Rockstar has never failed in delivering neither of those aspects.

TheNottykid ngl I cant tell if your being sarcastic or not😅. But this info is told in game when Arthur rides with Rains Fall and gets the chanoopa for him, I think this was just supposed to be a cool easter egg for people who rewatch the trailer to find.

damn they didnt lie in the trailers at all. and the hype was real unlike cyberpunk 2077

I visit this trailer every now and then. The best game narrative I've played ever.

Truly a masterpiece. No doubt the greatest game of all time - from the skillful character development to the intense shootouts.

One of the only games where the graphics were better in the game then the trailer. Rockstar never lets us down.

Not his girlfriend. He said he picked her up at bar. Things happened and she got pregnant. So it was basically a fling/one night stand. But he always pays them a visit now and then and gave her money for "both" of them.

EpicHunter117 Gaming Yes, she was a waitress he met. He cared for them, though. Arthur also said it hardened him, so he still loved them. And it’s not like she didn’t love Arthur, since Arthur says she knew who he was. But yeah, it’s mostly up to interpretation.

I really feel for him, all he wanted in the end was a peaceful stable life and he ended up dead, same goes for John.

This is literally the greatest video game I have ever played, flaws and all. And trust me, I will wait another 7-8 years for a masterpiece of this caliber. If you haven't bought this game, buy it now; it's gonna be a in 'top 10 greatest games' lists for years to come.

I love how this game was so good looking and ran so well Rockstar decided to just use gameplay for the trailer. No fancy CGI trailers that looks ten times better than the actual game...

5 long years already, almost 6... and no game released has gotten CLOSE, to being as great as this masterpiece is, forever RDR2

I played this story so many times over, I just wish I can experience it for the first time again, this will forever be one of my favorite games of all time

This trailer still gives me chills all these years later... pure marketing genius

To those who still haven’t played this game, are second guessing themselves to buy it and have no idea what happens. I HIGHLY recommend getting this game. I’m 22, I’ve been playing video games since I’ve had a sega/Nintendo 64 and this is easily one of my favorites if not, my favorite video game of all time, next to Ocarina of time, hell maybe even past it. This game is ahead of its time and believe me you will feel so many emotions after finishing the game. Also to all the players who have barely started this game or aren’t too far in. PLEASE DONT RUSH INTO THE MAIN MISSIONS. Take your time with this game, explore, roam around, talk to strangers go hunting fishing treasure searching etc etc do everything you can in this game. Especially when you’re at the campsite. talk to your fellow gang members, have moments with them, go on side missions with them, sit down and sing with them or just listen to their conversations. I’m playing this game for the second time but this time I’m taking it insanely slow and getting to know everyone and everything around me. Even when I played it the first time I thought I took my time with it, it still wasn’t enough to get the full experience. This is a masterpiece and should be treated as such. Trust me, believe me. “I insist”...

I don't know if anybody is gonna read this. I am watching this in August 2023, 2 months before this game's 5 year anniversary. A tear came to my eye after I saw the release date appear at the end. A tear of short-term nostalgia, memories and second-hand excitement. A tear that made me remember how crazed me and my older brother were when we saw the trailer. A tear that reminded me of the way I felt when I came home from school and our PS4 was delivered that day, along with RDR2. And my brother was sitting there, playing, riding a horse through a tough snowstorm. P.S: I got too bored to continue writing.

Different games can be the best game of all time for different people , its subjective. Rdr2 is one of my personal favourites too along with half life 2.

Revisiting this after the GTA VI trailer was released. Man… this was the best RDR2 trailer and maybe my favorite trailer of all time. The Reverand’s quote played throughout really embodied the central themes of the game’s narrative so well. Man’s technological march towards the future and possibly to our on demise… “with the knowledge of fire, comes the knowledge of everything else”. Wow!

I wouldn’t mind waiting ten years for another masterpiece like this

This trailer crafts the story so perfectly. The music and tone. The hint of Micah being trouble and making “mistakes”. The only HUGE missed opportunity is not having the ability to bring a gang member into free roam with you for a period.

Rockstar has some DAMN well written and heartbreaking stories. Thank you so much for everything you do!

This game proves that video game development is a form of art. Maybe even the highest form of art...

It's been years and yet this trailer still hypes me up

4 years later I'm watching this and I get chills. Hands down the best cinematic and story line game ever created. The realism of the dying wild west in this game is incredible. Could easily make a movie or a short series film just from the cut scenes.

I’m disappointed how RDR2 was not the best game of 2018. Yes God Of Wat was amazing but, in my opinion RDR2 was the best game of 2018 and the greatest video game of all time.

RDR2 isn't very friendly to the average person who plays games. That's why it didn't win GOTY. It's obviously the much better game, but it's much slower paced and rewards patience. It a very long game with tons and tons of details that requires you to sink a ton of time and effort and get fully immersed into it to fully appreciate it. It also helps if you know about classic Hollywood westerns to see all the homages. God of War was a game that granted instant gratification, so the majority of people ate it up, even though it's a painfully average story set to somewhat decent gameplay. It's a game we have seen before. It's like Destiny mixed with Dark Souls with a plot taken from The Last of Us. RDR2 did many things that video games have never done before, which was divisive. To sum up, GoW was only concerned with being a game, but RDR2 was concerned with being an impactful, harrowing experience that you will never forget. Those award shows are fundamentally worthless anyway.
