Red Bull X-Alps 2019: Full Documentary

As snow settles across the Alps it seems crazy to think back to just six months ago when 32 of the world’s top adventure athletes set off from Salzburg to race to Monaco.
Athletes have been quick to move on with their lives, back to the day jobs as teachers, engineers, guides, instructors and full-time adventurers now skiing and flying. But for many of us, fans and athletes included, the memories are still fresh - the pain, the glory, the exhaustion and elation.
With this documentary on the race, we take a look back to remind ourselves of some of the golden moments and unique trends from the 2019 edition.
The race may be six months ago, the pain may be long since forgotten. But as the saying goes, the glory lives on.

I would love to see an xalps documentary where you can see all pilots positions and tracking information from time to time to see the different approaches and routes. I really miss this information in all of the redbull documentaries so far. It would be very impressive to see the progress, the difference, the thermals and the downwind smack downs...

I find the Red Bull X-Alps to be in an awkward spot as far as marketing goes. On one hand you want to advertise it as "extreme" to be inline with the Red Bull company image. But on the other hand, the people that are interested in the competition are more focused in the decisions the athletes make, the same way one would appreciate a game of chess. We all know that Chrigel and the likes of him fly well and are great athletes, but at the end of the day it's strategy that makes the difference... Gavin McClurg has a great podcast that covers those topics btw !

One of my favorite sports to watch. I love the combination and strategy of flying and hiking, the scenery, the dependence upon nature's conditions, the coordination with the support teams, the unpredictability of where each racer finishes each day - such a great race. For future filming of races, it would be nice to have both an hour version like this as well as a longer version cut up into episodes, where you can really savor the journey of each day without it feeling so rushed.
Ohhh man. So Nice to relive these feelings from the race :) IN 2021 again!

As far as these experiences have some budget to be organized and the rest of us follow it and get inspired, I am still grateful to whoever is deciding to cover the costs, regardless of whats the ROI of this marketing spent for them.

All of them are champions in my opinion, no matter the podium!
This is a documentary about Maurer, not X-Alps. Even second group is not mentioned enough. Map is not shown after the intro which makes the documentary very hard to follow. (Although I followed the race from the beginning till the end.) One third of the competitors not mentioned at all, however, the competition was also there in the following groups. I suggest you to make two videos next time; Maurer take off and landing compilation and X-Alps documentary.

Because this film is primarily a Red Bull/ Audi commercial, not a documentary. No TV station would air this without taking a lot of money.

If I sell my whole paragliding gear I might be able to order the dashboard Red Bull can holder for the E-tron I'll never be able to afford. :)
