Red-bellied woodpecker: Male vs female

Here is a short video of a male red-bellied followed by a female. Note how the red on the male's neck extends to the beak while the female's red stops before the top of the head.

I stood on my deck and watched a Red-Bellied Woodpecker fly down and snatch a baby swallow. It was sad. I didn’t realize they would do that.

Nature can be hard at times. They will only do that if they have babies in the nest that lack protein. It is a rare instance, unlike blue jays, crows and many more that do feed on other species’ babies on a regular basis.

A little red on the chest. There is already a red-headed woodpecker (a lot more red) so I guess they had to find another name!🤷‍♀️😂

So the bird people renamed the slate colored junco (perfect description) to dark eyed junco (stupid description since most birds have dark eyes) and they couldn't see fit to rename the red bellied woodpecker (stupid description since it doesn't have a red belly) to red hooded woodpecker (perfect description)? What's wrong with those birdbrains? (and I intended to write hooded instead of headed).
