I think I’d be cool to see a firehouse cooking video. You could call it “Meal Monday” where you go to different firehouses and they show how to cook some good firehouse meals.

The start of this video is exactly like shift change in every firehouse, with Eric playing the role of the Firefighter going off shift getting grief from the in coming crew. So cool that you included this interaction. Great job Eric.

Man, I'm getting flashbacks to my time at the academy right now. "You feel your heart rate is elevated?" - "Yes, Sir!" - "Wanna go back in?" - "YES, SIR!" Nobody told us, the job would be less than 1% actual fires back then :D But I still love what I do every single day!

Ohh it has been many years ago. How some things have changed in last 34 years. Best of luck to that class as they spend many great years ahead. It is not just a Job, It is a adventure of a lifetime with great rewards. Some may stay a FF/Medic some may go on to be a BC but no matter what the gain is great. Thank you all from a Retired old FireFighter

Hey bud. There are volunteer programs for people your age, which I recommend you look into. Start studying up on your Hazmat Ops & Awareness, as well as basic fire science. That will put you well ahead of even many adult applicants. Places like SMFR will also require you to have your EMT card before you apply, or at least before your academy start date; so look at attending an EMT course during the summer break or when you can. A friend of mine was completing his senior year of hs while we went through EMT together, and at just 17-years-old. It is not easy, but if you are determined and have good studying habits you should do fine. Start working out consistently, too; weight training AND cardiovascular conditioning. When you are wearing full bunks + SCBA, you will learn very quickly how fit or unfit you are. Don't do drugs. Don't get arrested. Best of luck to you! - Volunteer Firefighter, in the process of earning my career slot.

You go man! First off you will need your EMT which you can get a most if not all community colleges. Something that can help you is getting your fire fighter 1 and fire fighter 2 certification. If you have a department you know you want to work for reach out to them and ask them what you need and if they would sponsor you getting your emt.
