You gotta appreciate that when it came to the kick save, Victoria was pretty much like "MOU IKKAI!"

I think he is screaming "rolling" before the ball comes and "thunder" when he gets the ball. It would be easier. "Rolling" is to build up tension and "thunder" the result.

The foot save is indeed physically possible. It's very similar to a cut shot in tennis/ping pong. You're coming across the surface of the ball at such a crazy angle with an insane amount of force (energy of the ball + the kick of the foot) that it generates a super amount of backspin causing the ball to pop straight up. As with most things at that level of speed and force though, the connection has to be pretty perfect so it's undoubtedly pretty hard to recreate. But it wouldn't be impossible. Enjoyed the video very much though. :)

That sounds right... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the same basic idea as the pancake, right? (just A LOT harder to get good enough form and timing) Being a soccer player, I assume you'd need to use the outside of your foot (the same way a lot of people get crazy spin on the ball when talking free kicks).

And you'd probably want to have your whole leg, not just the foot, as close and parallel to the floor as possible. Almost like doing a knee drive in the opposite direction, maybe?

Not only is it possible but I believe it's been done in real life at the Olympic level. The thing about a lot of Noya's saves though is that most of them aren't things you directly practice that's just a matter of honing instincts and being in the moment.

Also i think nishinoya in the anime had his waist much lower towards the ground with his other knee almost touching it. To me it almost looked like a pancake but with the leg.

I still chuckle everytime she pronounces Asahi like açai. At this point is part of the narrative

Nishinoya's foot save was just so low. Flexible af.

I know it's obvious since you're a collegiate athlete, but you made a lot of these moves look a lot easier than they are haha. Hopefully we see another edition of this after the end of the next seasons!

the second to last is hard to replicate... in ~16 years of playing (middle) I only did this once (in gym... beach is something else) a long and streched out jump to get a shanked recieve of a teammate from behind the field... still one of the EPIC volleyball memories :-D mad respect to all liberos out there.

I feel like Victoria needs to get a PO box or something where us homies can send her merch from the show or some fan art so she can decorate her reaction space. I would def watch an unboxing for special occasions like hitting milestones or something like a season finale.

Noya has to be one of the best characters in this anime 🙏🙏

As a former soccer player, you got the right idea at the end for the foot dig. He's using the outside of his foot, not the top. So, the outside of the foot is facing up, which launches the ball up. Love this video. Makes me miss playing volleyball too.
