So glad God placed you in my mist today, I was thinking about spending time at the library to think and write, but I much prefer the Botanical Gardens. Sometimes, we don’t realize we’re stressed while we’re in it. Time to relax after breakfast- once again, you made my morning blissful. Thank you

The mention of end of school year burnout; made me remember many, many years ago how exhausted my children and I were from all the end of year activities, the first morning after it was sheer bliss to sleep in. Squirrels are so much fun to watch. Presently we have a couple chipmunks playing and teasing our dog.

When we moved from an acre with woods to town, we turned the courtyard into a butterfly garden with lots of host plants for the eggs and caterpillars to grown. We can read and homeschool there and watch the lizards and bumblebees. It is our intentional little bit of nature.

The squirrels were so fun. I understand burnout, I brought my disabled brother up for a visit, and he's a lot of work. Plus, I'm trying to find him a new place to live. My 3 kids are long grown, and I'm a grandma now. I read something today that is so sobering; "You will spend the majority of your life knowing your children as adults, but for a brief moment you will get the chance to know them as kids." It's so true that long are the days and short are the years. I'm glad you're taking time to nourish yourself in your garden and smell the roses. God bless!

My favourite thing to ‘do’ is to just ‘be’, whether that be in nature or at home all cosy 🥰 I remember a quote saying something like we are called human ‘beings’ rather than human ‘doings’, as we are supposed to take time to rest and reflect rather than function like machines! I’m so glad you’ve had a peaceful and refreshing time in God’s creation lately Jennifer 🌷 and those squirrels are hilarious! 🐿️

Oh, Jennifer! I reliving that feeling of “ready to exhale and close the book on the school year” through you and my own adult children and grands. There is so much packed into May and the first two weeks of June. I can remember lying in bed many late spring nights with my eyes wide open! Here’s to tomorrow! Yes, tomorrow, June 14, when the book closes on academic year 23-24, and we party under the sun . . . and stay up late to soak in the moonbeams while we watch for shooting stars! Happiest Summer Solstice to you, your family and all who play together on this channel! Love, Lynne 10:31

That squirrel is so cute!! My husband and I have a term for when you were just simply being in the moment with nothing else to do and nowhere else to go. We call it “being a whale”. We enjoy the series, planet earth, and in one episode there are two whales, hovering in the waters of the Caribbean before heading north word to their feeding grounds. With nothing to eat in the Caribbean, and being unable to travel north, until the calf is ready for the journey, they sit there, hovering, waiting, watching, being. If I cannot spend the day being a whale, I at least try to be a whale for a half hour each day 🐋🐋🐋

Love the footage of the walks WITH the book of poetry. Gerard Manly Hopkins is my current daily poetry reading and I am just savoring these poems. My kids and I are reading through TS Eliot's Old Possums Book of Practical Cats in our morning time. So quirky and fun! They are still at the age where they stop and wonder at the ants on the sidewalk or the chipmunk scurrying into bushes. We recently had racoon kits up a tree in our front yard. They had been separated from their mom and were waiting for her to return. We watched it all unfold with hopes for reuniting. They did. I hope it lasts a long time, this wondering in nature.

I'm completely and utterly burned out. I've been working two jobs for over a year now with only a 30 minute lunch and no break between jobs or at the evening job, so I end up eating whatever snacks are around. Then, I get home at 9pm, squeeze in a bike ride even though I'm exhausted, walk the dog, feed the cats, tidy up, do dishes and laundry, and finally sit down to rest at 10:00 or 10:30, then stay up too late because it's finally my "me time." I can't wait for the day I can quit some of this and have some time to think and enjoy life again and can recover.

Good morning Jennifer! Just sitting down to breakfast after seeing my little ones off to go on an outing with a God-sent adoptive grandma and grandpa who told me to stay home and rest. I have similarly been yearning for some time alone and am just doing my planning and praying so it will be both a restful and productive day alone! We also have some crazy squirrels 🐿️ … they climb up our windows to get to our window bird feeder and into it! So I know they can handle slippery surfaces 😂 Right, off for a walk now before it gets too hot! Sending love from a fellow homeschool Mama.

@ TheDailyConnoisseur -------- Jennifer I've wondered about how you're able to handle all the stresses of your actual life. Just thinking about it makes me feel overwhelmed. I hope you appreciate "yourself," and are somehow able to step away (from yourself) to truly realize the amazing person you actually are. Because if you're not able to do that, I think it would be very unfortunate for you. Anyhow, I hope that I spoke in written form through this comment well enough to be correctly understood...and I certainly hope not misunderstood🙄. You Are Appreciated, Jennifer. And please(!) continue to take good care of yourself.

Hello Jennifer, Thank you for this timely video. We choose to homeschool independently so we aren’t over-scheduled by programs yet this past couple weeks have just been big family busy with inviting an out-of-town family to our home, an out-of-town wedding for a niece and getting ready for our July 4th reunion picnic we host for 65 then a Martha Stewart style tag sale here. Phew, it’s been oh so busy and tonight I had to bow out of an event to rest. Time in nature is the best way to recoup. I love that God created a garden for man to live in and then a woman to be his companion: His way is supreme. Julie 🌷

We get a couple of squirrels who regularly come to our backyard, and I love watching them. The poem I posted on Instagram yesterday mentions one ( @Word Awakening). Also, a lovely morning practice of mine (besides sitting outside with my coffee and journal) is to watch one of the devotionals from the former Dean of Canterbury Cathedral on his KZread channel: @Garden Congregation. They take place in the various, gorgeous gardens of the Cathedral, with birdsong, flowers, streams, trees, and sometimes even cats and pigs! Here's to a relaxing summer!
