It's called JOINTING, even in England. And in America "planing" and "thicknessing" are the same action.

In Dutch a planer is called an “of thickness bench” (literal translation), planing is flattening here

Planer thicknesser. That’s the name in England.

Seems somewhat more professional, and capable than that currently in my workshop :-(

Hi a message for Alan Holcomb hi I watch this video and saw you run a long bit of wood on the planer with no jig a.. does it work doing that way I’ve have a 2.4 meter long bit with a bend in it would I place the wood bend up or down to try and remove it. I have a Screwfix Titan second hand I call it death trap but all I have I don’t have a lot as just started and disabled and had 2 strokes so trying to learn the hard way with memory loss but willing hopefully you can get back to me and I would appreciate it many many thanks steve 👨🏼‍🦽. P.s. just wanted to say thanks to guys at Scott and Sargent for help in emails on itch 260ss I think still hopeful but fading a bit

Hi, my mate had one of these T260, and the thicknesser adjusting screw drive broke. Do they have a better adjustment set up now? cheers

its the five aluminium cogs that break.. Also the switch which activatews the joiner break easily

My last employer bought one of these years ago it wasn’t long before the machine was rendered useless when a thicknessing table adjustment cog ended up toothless with minimal use

Mikey moo these machines have sensors one of which won’t let the machine run unless the extraction fitting is lodged between adjustable thicknessing table and underside surface table, so not being able to move the thicknesser table to put the extraction fitting in it couldn’t even be used for surface planing

How much would one of these Bad boys cost me?? I bought a much cheaper one of these types of machines. I have gotten some good results from it but the top is only Aluminium.. That's a major issue with the cheap one I bought.. I NEED A CASTIRON ONE BUT THE COST IS A BIT MUSH FOR ME AS i DON'T USE THE ONE i HAVE EVERY DAY. I would love to know the cost of one of these though. It looks like a really nice machine..
