The 1951 convention provides protection where someone is coming straight from a place of danger, which is made clear in article 31. It is clear for all to see, individuals crossing the English Channel in flimsy boats are not coming from places of danger; they are coming from France, and France is a safe country, along with Germany, Italy, Spain, Belguim and other European countries. The countries I have mentioned are civilized countries, they have an asylum system that is fully functional. There is no excuse at all for individual and their children to risk their lives crossing the English Channel, that is not only fraught with danger but illegal.

You may not know this or you simply refuse to believe that, however many of the so called dictatorial countries actually manage to stay in power because they continuously get the proper supplies in the form of weapons and machinery from these so called developed countries. In return these aforementioned countries get the natural resources, it doesn't get the airtime however as it would become a "classified project" or some "national security" fiasco . We're living in this vicious cycle and most of these "illegal immigrants" are the byproduct of this phenomenon. This is a very unfortunate problem and in a double sense! Some of these individuals may be carrying the Delta variant of Covid-19 with them. So isolation of that is required by law! The other side is the predatory effect of the smugglers themselves who are profiting from this situation. And are in violation of international law by this action. Doubly so in this regard. And undermining measures of control and containing of Covid-19. In both instances, highly illegal and totally unwise.

That’s more than in the whole of 2019." - 9 months ago And so on... I searched "BBC migrants channel". Not exactly a secret code.

Part of me is glad the world still thinks this country is a place worth paying €1000s to get to, but really they’re just going to struggle here too. They probably won’t find work and will just be homeless even if they slip past the Coast “Guard”

It's kind of strange. If I had a difficult time in life I would most likely go to some farmland and try to grow things, live of the farm. The least thing I'd think to do would be to get on a boat and go to the world first country to live on the streets of handouts. I know many people in my poor, riddled with war country, who struggle to put food on the table in their apartments. But they have enough honour to face their destiny rather than do nothing and beg. For some reason I am sure nobody of them will go live on your highlands where people work hard - they will go to large cities, to London, and will camp on the streets.
