I'd say if your father fell off the quad a hit a rock, the rock would come out the worse off! Congratulations on the cattle. I'm delighted. I was going to comment some day and ask if you'd ever consider getting back into a few cattle. I think it's great to graze catle and sheep together because the cattle will eat what the sheep won't and the sheep will graze what the cattle won't. I have some horses with my cattle and they compliment each other perfectly. I've been thinking of getting a few sheep now too!

Angus are great hardy cattle and easy to handle. Nice small hardy calves that grow quick. Were in the organics scheme and there well suited too it.

@@sheepshepherd granddad & dad always had cows here, tbh i never had crazy interest in them till i was 17 or 18,twas all sheep till then,auld lad half mentioned getting outa them,i convinced him not to,I’d genuinely hate to be without them now........tbh cow’s are alot easier kept than sheep,get them calved & incalf,far less handling than sheep all year🤷‍♂️the weather on bad ground is the biggest killer wth them though.....gud luck wth yours,look nice stock

@Ger1010 exactly. Heavy ground and the place is in shit. I have a good growning hill that is rocky in parts if the weather is poor they will be send here. But ya its great to have the cows back

Hi Glyn, with working with your Sheep a lot it must be nice to have the 6 Heifers as a change of pace. You mentioned you were happy to get a Red colored cow and was wondering why only 1 Red and 5 Black? Milking those cows must be a nice change of pace as well and it's nice your son can come along. Thanks for the updates on Tiny, the pups and also the progress on your new house. Luckily that sheep that was crossing by the embankment didn't loose it's footing and end up in the ravine, so close.

Great video Glyn, hope the heifers are all in calf, fine heifers and the angus are easy calved too in general, those are lovely pups too they don't be long growing. Once you get your house up and roofed and the widows in leave it sit a good while before you plaster it, saves getting a lot of fine settling cracks.

I don't know what Ireland's policy is on ferrets but several years ago I saw an Australian farmer who had friends with trained ferrets. The ferrets would be set loose in rabbit burrows and chase them out. Ferrets being in the same family as weasels, the rabbits sense a predator and of course want to get away. Sometimes the ferrets would kill the rabbits but if you don't need the meat I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem. Your other option of course would be to go out one evening with some friends and rifles and take care of the rabbits that way. Filling in the rabbit warrens will probably cost a pretty penny too so you don't lose lambs and sheep to broken legs etc from falling into the holes.

Wondered why the heifers, but after you explained it all, I could see you been there got the tea shirt with cows. You picked well where you building your new home, what a hansome view to look out on in the mornings. Man with some ferrets is best thing for rabbits! But not so many do it nowadays. Thankfully your having a bit dry spell. Enjoy it well it last Glyn 👍

I prefer Angus on the hook. Compared to the placid Hereford, but I think Angus meat is the best. Those little Dexters are very tasty too. Lots happening on your farm. The house shouldn’t take too long now you have the base in. Look forward to seeing the progress.k

We could help u out with that have good friends of mine have good terrier that could sort out your fox problem if u want no hassle we would only love the day out.

I would say 4 dogs and 3 bitches but I suppose you can’t say bitch on KZread, heifers look to be good strong stock and will definitely be big enough next backend when calving and it is probably just as well because that bull doesn’t look much like an easy calver . Best of luck with them we always got on well with Angus cows great hardy stock with plenty of milk and would calve anything, the red Angus had some great orange Charolais calves that were great sellers but the dark grey ones out of the blacks were not as popular for some reason so we usually put the blacks in calf to the blue.

love the cattle - have you thought long term (because it takes time to set up) getting into the frozen couriered delivered to the door meat business? I am thinking you r to far out of town for a farm store - KZreadr Our Wyoming Life in the USA does beef, beef jerkily and pork at the moment - KZreadr Sonne Farm did all his beef herd that was ready to go for sale at the market (his father does Angus Bulls) and it sold out in 48 hours what he had - Tom Pemberton has the farm shop - It takes time and the almighty dollar for me in NZ to get everything going but relying on the meat prices without diversifying will send you broke - that why you have a youtube channel look what great things that is bring your way Cheers Tif from NZ
