With Yoda-Star Wars; Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, integrated in the Hadith understanding and talk. Entertaining and evoking thoughts at the same time.

I don't think he integrated it when he was seriously discussing the Hadith understanding. He spoke that in a light note which shows that not all people of Islamic wisdom and understanding are serious and not aware of the things existing around them. You should read about Al Tabari the great scholar was wise and witty and had a great art to approach all kinds of audience to connect.

In ancient times maps were oriented to the East. Hence, East or sun rise were up. Until the compass came along and North became up. The hadith of the Prophet pbuh suggests he referred to the sunset being below the Earth could be interpreted bevause West was down in ancient world orientation.

So we have to decide whether we want to believe all hadiths regardless of internal consistency or be critical and research them and make effort to authenticate. He can't possibly be making that argument but in the conclusion it almost appears that he is.

That there are people that reject all on the basis of the content of some. He says that Muslim scholars have had the problem of understanding them, however, came from a different worldview of having deep belief in Islam and traditions. Johnathan, says we should find this meaning. Ahadith, by the way, have been classified as good, weak, forgery, etc. as history gave some knocks to the community.

Does anyone know why there is another version of this hadith (Abu Dawud, book 25, #3991), and how we are to differentiate as to which one is more or less reliable? Abu Dawud Book 025, Hadith Number 3991. Narated By Abu Dharr : I was sitting behind the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) who was riding a donkey while the sun was setting. He asked: Do you know where it sets? I replied: Allah and his Apostle know best. He said: It sets in a spring of warm water (hamiyah).

This was a good talk, however, it sidesteps some of the main issues around hadiths. One would be the chain of transmission and possible fabrication or manipulation of hadiths - because the ahadith are in a different category from the Qur'an; they aren't God's own words, but instead are related by and through humans and there are questions about political manipulation of hadiths.

The hadith says the sun goes around the Arsh of Allah Ta'llah & prostrate bfr Allah, it doesn't say that it goes around the earth. The science of religion is a spiritual & metaphysical science, while worldly science is all the time evolving & discovering new things. Also the lecture was very disrespectful. It was very disrespectful to start a lecture on hadith with a joke abt his socks, while historically Muslim scholars wud not even describe a hadith without wudu. If he is a scholar of Islam he shd know that any hadith in Sahih Bukhari or other sahih collections r the hadith that were thoroughly investigated & proven to b authentic by strong chains of transmission. Calling such hadith stupid ( astaghfirrullah) is smthing a Muslim can never do.
