That curious... I've not had that experience. My first thought is to check the pH, perhaps your super fat is very high?? Or do you live in a super humid area??
Hello again, I want to try some of your recipes with lard, but if I remember right. I can't use the ones from the store correct? Like the ones in the blue box. If so where would you suggest looking? My local butcher doesn't have lard for sale or even the stuff to render

You can use store bought lard, just watch out for other added ingredients.

If you change an oil in a CP recipe, it's now a new formula and you'll need to run the numbers thru soap calc. Here is a video with several recipes that don't use lard: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYNp0Jauh6i8f5M.html
What can we use instead of lard or tallow??anything plant based??

Can you use this recipe in liquid form? Can you substitute the Sodium Hydroxide for the potassium Hydroxide?
@EllenRuthSoap
Ай бұрын
Not sure what you mean "in liquid form"? Like the calamine lotion? And no, sodium hydroxide is very different than potassium hydroxide.
Hi Ellen, Ellen, I know you quit selling your products online😥, but do you have a store front that you sell from? I am not a soap maker(yet) but would love to have a bar of your calamine soap. If you don't sell anywhere, and there is someone else that makes a calamine soap like yours either this one or your other one , would that soaper please contact me and let me know where I could buy one. Thanks. I just love watching your videos.
I won't use animal fats in my soap. What can be used in place of the lard?

I'm muslim, what is the alternative for lard? Tallow?

Tallow is fabulous in soap. Just know that if you change any of the oils, you'll need to run the numbers thru soap calc to make sure your lye ratio is correct. Here is a video with several recipes: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYNp0Jauh6i8f5M.html Plus I have a soap recipe playlist.
I dont think we can get calamine powder in South Africa, only calamine lotion and I doubt that would work.

Yes, I’m not sure how the lotion would work?. You could try it as a portion of your liquid (depending on the ingredients)?
Hi. I see that your online store is empty. Do you have plans to restock?

That is my least favorite mold because it's a struggle to get the loaf out and it bulges on the sides after the 2nd use 😅then makes your bars look funny...
