    I currently make your calamine soap you previously posted. I make it for a friend who has lupus. He loves loves this soap. This fragrance is also awesome. Thank you so much for your excellent videos and knowledge. I always get excited when I see a new video from Ellen Ruth. I have watched hundreds of soap/body care videos along with so many many hours of research. By far, I have learned more from you than any other person. Blessings

    Me: Saving the recipe so I can try it for my friend who has Lupus. I'm sad you're not selling any longer but, I completely understand the hassle too much soaping can be. It can become tedious and no longer enjoyable if you have a ton of demand. Also, could you teach us how to make and print labels from Online Labels and how to set it up for a printer. That's one thing I just can't master. LOL. I can create the logo but, can't figure out how to print it. Thank you so much for being such a great teacher.

    I just made a small batch a week or so ago, I also just switched to a vegan recipe and it ended up becoming a glycerine pool through the middle but then didn't gel either, so interesting. I lathered a bit a couple days after I made it and was shocked to see it didn't make my eczema flare up on my hands, most soap that early out of the mold does. Anywho, thanks for the content lol it was my inspiration to try it.

Also, I have a mold that is very similar to the one you used and I also struggle to get the loaf unmolded. I had my hubby make a wood box for it because I noticed that with out, the mold would flex and my bars came out kinda funky. Have a wonderful weekend. 🌻

    Try Less lard for a better mold release. 25% lard and add 25% sunflower oil. Also rose clay with zinc oxide will give you that color. Love the salt idea on top. I’m gonna try half the loaf regular soap color and the other half pink. My bars are wider and I feel a whole bar of calamine is too overwhelming. I’m also gonna try the Rexall liquid calamine from dollar general. They are awesome bars for sure.

    I LOVE your very understandable instructions and recipes! I do however have a question about how you know how much of certain additives to include per recipe, ex: powdered clays, silk fibers. I do realize that FO and EO have recommendations from manufacturers websites so that isn't as confusing to me. When your adding more than one (ex: clay) how much is the right amount OR how much is too much? Is there a calculator for additives?? Thank you so much!

  • @EllenRuthSoap

    @EllenRuthSoap

    Ай бұрын

    Yes, it can be confusing with the "additives". I've found that a soap can hold a good amount of extra ingredients. I find that adding 1tsp per lb of oil for each additive is good and I have never overloaded a soap, and I've added much more than that.... I don't know of a calc for additives, just trial and error..
