I have access to my whole home water softener through a garden hose. Is there any reason (other than convenience) to use this product over my method?

most home softeners have to regenerate before you can fill the hot tub with soft water. If you can get your hot tub completely full at 75 ppm or lower of hardness you’re good to go.
This needs to be recharged from the factory (Amazon), right? Sorry for the stupid question.

Thank you for the response. What I meant to say is, once we get the product, we need to just put the salt in there and it’s good to go?
I just filled my hot tub and recharged my on the go softener. Since I will only be using it to occasionally top off my hot tub, how should I store the softener??? What I mean is, do you empty the water out of it or store it with the water in it from recharging???

Store it with water make sure it is upright and kept someplace it won’t freeze
I filled my hot tub with the softener and then stored it in my basement for the last 3 months without draining it. Now I need to top off my tub, it my softener ok to just use?

For a top off yes but you should recharge before your next drain and refill

You should be able to buy it from your local Hot Spring or Caldera Dealer. However here is my amazon link to get it. amzn.to/3theLQJ I have the single unit. I hope this is helpful
I have what I believe to be iron deposits on the surface of the tub. Brown and sandy looking. Would this eliminate it?

I twould hlep as metal has a hard time surving in soft water but no it will not eliminate it. You would need to get a cu lator or use stain and scale control if it is truly iron
They are only good for 1 recharge now

How do you know when you reach 700 gallons ? Do you have some sort of water meter?

@@tommetz7587 no but you should know the gallons of your hot tub. Mine is 500 so I know I need to recharge after a fill and a couple of top offs. If your hot tub is 350 you could get two refills out of it
It’s actually a 30 minutes job lol
