Recently I've been back in to the original Guild Wars again, after a massive hiatus. The last time I played this was to grab the newest anniversary elite skills, but beyond that, I didn't really get back in to it.
This time though, it's different and I've been absolutely blasting my way through so much stuff that I just had to talk about it all - what a great game this still is.

The mark of pain EVASS combo looking really nice honestly, never really used that!

MoP causes scatter, which can be a problem sometimes buuuuuut, if you get the combo off quickly enough and the dervs shadowstep in, everything blows up and by the time they do scatter, it's just buying you time to barbs something and clean up. Melonni was hovering death pen a lot that run, those vampiric skills just chewed thrrough her a lot. Also it sucks in hex removal areas like with jade brotherhood mesmers, but it's fun when it works.
I haven't thought about this game for YEARS, let alone played it. Amazing to see such an active community as we near the 20th anniversary, may have to download it again soon.
Great vid matey. My favourite PC game of all time! 6000+ hours played 😃
Recently back to guild wars and man... every day is a blessing playing the game. No ADHD combat, no jumping from zerg to zerg no insane power creep every patch, slower more methodical gameplay ..heroes people that actually talk to each other man its like being back in 200X.

I've always enjoyed that about the game, the slower pace of combat and general gameplay.
I’ve never played the first one and after watching this I think I’m gonna give it a go!
@MagicalMike2

Definitely worth a go, they're often on sale anyway. It's a very different experience to GW2 and the time it takes to build up a character and a set of heroes to a comfortable point WILL take ages, despite online advice saying it won't. But if you get past the slower pacing then there's tons to play.

You really should. Just hearing the login music will hit you hard. The content is still the same but feels so good to play through and with so much content you could spend so long playing the game again without having to do the same thing over and over. 100% worth hopping back on. I even bought a new account just so I could experience starting fresh with no skills unlocked starting afirst character playing through all campaigns. It's been the best
I would absolutely love to watch a fresh account built up from the start and reliving the nostalgia of the first time you completed the game?

I've sort of moved away from it for efficiency's sake since making this video, it's a bit slow vs anything that blocks.
I have been having a lot of fun with a “Together as One!” Sword/pet ranger, it may not be meta but it has been fun to play. I have been running it with a typical 3 Mes, 3 Nec and one Rit team build. I want to make a hero comp with all pets and “together as One!” And see how that goes I just haven’t did it yet.
@MagicalMike2

I swap weapon builds on my ranger the most and that elite basically works for anything you like. It's both amazingly versatile and a bit of a shame that it's such a good pick over most anything else. It actually applies to all allied pets too, which makes that idea of a petway comp much stronger than it seems at first.
@Triaz357
Ай бұрын
@@MagicalMike2 that is true. I feel like that about seven weapon stance for a warrior too. It makes basically any weapon usable for a warrior but then it’s hard to choose another elite over it. Only weapon I haven’t really been able to make work with it is a bow and that’s just because of energy management. SWS knockdown hammer is amazing.
@MagicalMike2

I'll have to find an excuse to try the hammer version.

@@MagicalMike2 it’s a blast with a stonefist rune and renewing smash, solid single target DPS with lockdown. Spear is pretty fun too with SWS when you just want to kick back and throw things.

There is one flying pig build I saw online somewhere, it uses some rangers conditions build and a skill that has the pet teleport directly on an enemy to hit for a massive damage spike if it has certain conditions. The flying pigs has all the hero’s using pigs and is a play on ‘when pigs fly’ I’m guessing
I also started playing again shortly before the anniversary event and its been so great
Feels amazing to see a MagicalMike GW1 video! Been playing a lot of GW1 again as well and have really enjoyed myself completing some story mode on newly created characters. Good to hear that you are playing a lot with GuildWarsBuddy, brings a tear to my nostalgic eye! Does he plan on posting video’s also?

Never a bad time for it, it seems!
on the selling part: theres a website that logs kama trade chat, so if youre not in a hurry you can just write it once in ae trade chat and if you listed a decent price someones probably gonna whisper you in the next hours/days. although a lot of the trading that happens is also very high volume since pretty much all of it is botted at this point
@MagicalMike2
Ай бұрын
I use the site to price check things here and there, so yeah I do know about it. But I haven't been whispered like, a bunch of time later for any of the things I've tried to sell. Like it's taken several hours to sell Gifts of the Traveler for 8e each, and that's not an unreasonable price so I'm not really sure. There's also GW Legacy forums as well, just in case anyone else sees this comment - I'd just prefer a better system in-game. Thanks for mentioning kamadan.gwtoolbox.com though.

@@MagicalMike2 Gifts aren't as much in demand as they used to be for the last year. Some months ago you could easily unload all Gifts you have every monday for 10e/ea no problem. Currently a bit of a rough patch due to the crash of the Armbrace price. (100e -> 50e)

@@TM-lm1gn Oh really? I dont understand the economy at all, so idk what caused such a massive crash for arms. It's already weird to me that gifts are so expensive, but yeah it's all over my head tbh.
Damn my experience with Secrets of the Obscure was exactly the same - didn't buy it, stopped logging in. The latter was probably more due to the login rewards revamp that dropped with the expansion, but still...

I thought about this some more and the login reward change was definitely a part of what caused me to stop finally logging in. Tbh though, it was a waste of time to log in/log out for the stuff anyway since I wasn't actually using it for anything, so I've ended up just saving myself the time doing that and patching the game every so often.

@@MagicalMike2 Well mostly just hope it will be. But next year we have 20 year anniversary celebration, and we got things added for 10 and 15 year, so maybe :) Also someone in game told me, Anet now have 1 dev working full time on gw1. Then again just to be fair i would not expect much... Dont want to have to high expectations and be disappointed, but even if they add something small to this old game, it would be awesome!!!

There is that, yeah some mild amount of hope I guess lol. Those new elite skills changed a ton of builds and opened up so much stuff, so even small things could have massive unforseen changes.

I have no idea, but there's still massive alliances out there that are playing all the time and I assume most people are just absorbed in to those at this point. I already have a set of raid armor, so yeah. The prospect of grinding rifts or the same events for many more hours wasn't doing it for me.
I've been back on gw1 for about a month now. With the goal of achieving maxed HoM. All the minis are all done.. just need some money to get those weapons and vabbian armor left. But man... gw2's latest expansion was absolute dogshit. I can't even care about the characters in the wizards faction because they dont let them cook long enough. The narrative lead for gw2 needs to be removed or something. He's not a good writer at all.. Seriously a shame amazon managed to poach the gw1's lead writer.

Destroyer weapons are probably the cheaper option to max out, but wait until the wayfarer's reverie event and you can get a tormented weapon from that. Or just do nick gifts and sell those every week, should be done in no time if you just sell off those ecto.
I stopped logging in completely shortly after finishing EoD on launch. The game is dead in terms of interesting content, and all the original talent are gone. They gave up on the game years ago and started developing other things, and got fucked by it. Now they will abandon this game in hopes of GW3 bringing them money and players, but they will make the same mistakes every game company is doing now. They'll get to ambitious and not deliver and good product especially since they are not a AAA Dev with all the money that comes with. AAA Devs atm can't even finish a game before launch due to shareholders. This game series will die, and gaming will continue to suffer.

Doom. But I won't lie, I'm in the GW2 hatewatch camp at this point. I've no care left for the sequel.
