The fabulous 55. Of all the saws I own- and that's dozens for those wondering- I still adore the 55. Mightier than it appears and hidden as a homeowner saw- it's rugged, dependable, easy to work on- parts readily available. In my mind everyone should own one. And- there's no mistaking the sound of a 55. It has a unique hum.

I feel the same way.. except I ended up with a pile (3 or 4) 51's. One is probably going to get an OEM 55 jug though unless my mind changes. Found a later model 51 with few miles that someone straight gassed that needs a second chance at life.

@@jackylsmith8138 What I'm asking is there a difference in the decals between the open port cylinder version vs the closed port cylinder version? Some version of the 55 only say Air Injection and others have Rancher on them also.

Doc, it will definitely be an Air Injection model. None of the Ranchers came with a closed port. Also, the ones without a compression release actually had higher compression for the open port cylinders. The only way to tell if it is a closed port cylinder is there will be a bunch of X's on the bottom of the cylinder all in a row. Like this: XXXXXXXX. I don't know how easy it is to see that on a saw that is assembled. Tomorrow I'll probably be porting my closed port cylinder and I'll have all that stuff in the video.
