Rebuilding Ford 7.3 Powerstroke HEUI Diesel Injectors
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The process used to clean and rebuild the HEUI Injectors common to the legendary 7.3 powerstroke ford/navistar engine. It's too expensive to buy replacements and most shops won't even rebuild them anymore. What a shame. I got through the whole process from disassembly to reassembly.

Not intentional, but it worked out that this content is a few years old. The truck is still going strong 226k miles as of February 2023. All the injectors still seem to be doing just fine.

The amount of different chemicals you expose your hands to is astounding. That's coming from a daily diesel mechanic.

Indeed. He's got a good video here but all those chems just soak into the blood stream. For a long time I thought if ya didn't have grease on your hands, you weren't working. But as I got older and understood the body a little better not to mention being warned about the toxic effects of all these oils have, I wear the rubber gloves now and when they tear I put on new ones.

These injectors are insane! There's so many parts inside just one of those. I don't really wanna rebuild mine anymore.

Aw you should, just stay organized, lot cheaper than paying someone or buying a new set
I found this video after looking at a Facebook marketplace. Add where a 7.3 needed. Injectors. Could have left in the first few minutes, but stayed to the very end. This looks like a lot of fun. Glad you got your truck going again. Cheers!
For anyone watching, just use a pick to pull the piston out. The same pick will work for removing and installing the o-rings. Just be careful not to poke them.
Air also works quite well to get that cylinder out.
from Guatemala 🇬🇹 nice video I, like bless you America 🇺🇸 here and NJ

Good job !! Learned alot
Thank you somuch for making this video Do you have Links for the tools you used. Specifically the Tweezer set and the.plastic Parts organizer. Thanks again
Hi. I had the exact same thing happen to the nozzle on one after sonic cleaning and then assembly. Torqued to 75 ft lbs and as I was busy shimming the top, it just popped. Any idea what would cause this?
Thank you for the info you got my sub will be coming back to this to do mine once I'm ready to tackle mine do you remember about what you spent on tools and new parts?
Do you run the master stages clean concentrated? Or do you dilute it?
Thanks!
So do you have to have a parts washer
Great video mate.....I too never where gloves especially doing small work like this. Yes it isnt good for you but nor is fatty food and car exhausts and im sure they kill way more people rhen a bit of oil and carby cleaner. Thanks heaps for the video....great work.
So there was a noticeable difference after rebuilding them? Still holding up good?
I have been using SEAFOAM in the fuel every other fill up. Diesel type. Will I have any bad impact on o rings at injecters ?
What size sonic cavitation machine did you use? I see many different sizes available.
great video on rebuilding the injectors,, how does the truck run now!! :)

I was torking my second injector and I thought all was going well than the top of my nosel blow off what I found was that my little disk had slipped to the side and picked down at a angle witch put to of pressure on the needle forcing it to brake the nosel
Question, where do you buy the parts from ?

I’ve seen rebuild kits on eBay. Not sure of the quality tho
Just curious...before you did all this work, had you poured in one quart of transmission fluid into the diesel tank to see if that would clean the injectors enough to run good again? Excellent Video Sir!!!

How much money do you save doing this yourself as opposed to buying new from a company like Full Force? Because damn, I don’t think I’m comfortable rebuilding them myself, this looks super convoluted

I'm doing this job for the first time and starting on my second injector after watching someone else's instructional video but you both put them back together oriented differently then you took them apart.... I'm not sure if I should take the first one back out and swap it or continue assembly the way you show 😥

@@mattm3492 You could have just said, show me. But instead you want to act like a clown. So answer me this, at 6:56 in video when you lift off the plate, the drainback notch in the base is opposite the clamp "flat side" you refer to it as. Which is the direction of the connector, the top side, which makes sense because that's the bottom. But at 35:30 in the video, you line them all up with drain back notch at the top.
