Rebuilding A Wrecked Jet Boat Part 3

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Will this boat float or sink? We are finally taking the 2005 Yamaha SX 230 jet boat on the water to do some testing. After fixing a huge hole in the bottom of the boat it's time to see if our repairs are worthy! So far everything on the interior is turning out nice, so if it does great in the water, we'll have ourselves the perfect water craft for the summers to come! Cant wait to show you guys how it went!!!

I have a feeling like they'll read this so since you have an inboard engine if you're idling you dont want kids in the back of the boat. The exhaust fumes can kill you. A family in the Tampa Bay area just experienced this with their kids. stay safe y'all

  • @Avetho

Its a good something to know since many people don't quite realize that despite the fact liquid petrol can be lit aflame and not explode, petrol vapor is the one that goes boom inside an engine cylinder and is the one that goes boom in free air. Its like keeping a Bunsen burner on and unlit, the gas spreads and when it lights its a big whoop of flame (I did that in chemistry class twice in HS so I know better lol), and its worse in a closed compartment like a boat since there's no pressure relief and it builds until it kabooms and shrapnel and injury ensues. So yeah I'm basically saying the boys need to remember exactly what you commented :P

The blower fans are used to vent any fumes around the engines before every start up and especially when fueling up on the water! The bilge pump is for water use. Don't forget about the impeller clean outs on the swim platform. Those are key when boating and ropes, debris, wood chips and vegetation get hung up around the shafts and impellers!

Perfect and you can find any number of videos of burnt up boats from not using the exhaust blower before you ever touch that KEY!! Rvery time and I also think uoening the engine cover after fueling is also a good idea, I watched an18 ft Donzi burn to the water line and sink! Got to becareful aeound gas docks! So many nonboaters out there that are clueless and will get you hurt. Watch the "Chit show" on youtube from a Florida boat ramp, will give you insite to what I am talking about. Had a lot of fun for one summer without issues and sold it the next spring for several thousand before it started costing a fortune to maintain. The only way to have a cheap boat is to not keep it.

You need a type 5 throwable pfd. The vent is an exhaust vent for fumes that you run before starting the boat. The masthead light that you bought is used with your port and starboard lights when underway and making way between sunset and sunrise or in restricted visibility. The masthead light that you bought is used only by itself if you are anchored. TWRA now permits that you operate your boat with a kill switch attached and any children under 12 have to be wearing their life jackets while underway.

Nice work guys! FYI: the fan is for clearing any gas fumes out of the engine bay so your boat doesn't explode

They didn't put a marine waterproofing gel coat before putting in water. Hope going in the water doesn't delaminate the rest of the boat if water seeped in

@@ryanmartinage It is possible after listening in this video these were made ahead of time so what was done is completed by the time we see it to comment on. I suspect they will address concerns at some point.

The white "bouy" you bought are referred to as fenders. They protect the side of your boat when you are close to a dock or another boat.

I love these 'dudes', but they have a lot to learn about boating... especially inboard motors. Hopefully, they don't learn the hard way!!

Hey guys, awesome boat..IMPORTANT..please check think your missing your rear bung, bottom area, metal plate with screw threads.. normally boats have a bung that screws in,when out of water, unscrew to dry or release water build up....but check, thats what it looks like. Plus you can anti foal paint bottom of boat, stops barnicles ect holding on,get a chandlers, spray on but mask base of boat, then covers all and protects boat..... Awesome boat and build, plus look inti a bimini top for it,and add couple of fishing tubes to hold rods, then fit a front spot light too, safety and for nightime use getting home...normally have a green and red light to siginfy port and starboard,if take out at night look into getting those too.... Plus get a board or floaty to pull behind boat, maybe mini fridge for cold beers or cooler. Take care guys... Peace.
