REBUILDING A WRECKED BMW M3 THAT CRASHED INTO A HOUSE

I bought a wrecked BMW M3 G80 that was hit the news articles after it was crashed into the front of a residential house. With the driver being uninsured the car never got as far as the insurance, which left open a good deal to be had & an even bigger repair to be done!

Same thing happened to my dads 530D E60 Manual!!! He chopped it out and fixed it all up on our backgarden!! All thats left is a tiny bit of welding and paint but sadly he passed away on the 16th of feb from stage 4 cancer so now its down to me!!!! Labour of love but im gonna enjoy fixing it in honour of him! What a legend he was and I love your guys channel to the moon and back!

So nice that you can do this with your father !! Last week me and my dad decided to fix a broken seat slider in my car. It's a simple Renault Clio seat, no fuss about it, and we had a spare one in the cellar. We had to figure out where all the bolts are, how to disconnect air bag lines and how to deal with tricky torx screws since we don't have the torx nuts and screwdrivers. It took us 3 hours to do everything but it was so worth it. Great way to play with a car a bit, and even better to do it with my father.
You and Tavarish are the best car rebuild channels on KZread in terms of detailed build showcase, educational explanations and build storytelling. Thank you so much for your work! Would be great to see some rebuild with extreme modifications, like an offroad build or part-maxxing a really cheap chassis ;)
You could have easily uploaded half of this video (just after the front end repair) and called it there, but you give us full out 39 minutes of amazing content. Most KZreadrs would have made several videos out of this. Great work again, can’t wait for the next one! 👏🏼

So much respect for Matt that he is willing to work on so many different types of cars in varying conditions. He tackles so many projects that most people wouldn't even touch.
Hi Mat, some info for you. The reason why your second-hand headlights worked once swapping the modules from the old unit is because they are specifically coded into the FRM (Foot-Well Module). Each car has its own unique FRM and, in turn, means the modules are also coded to that specific FRM. For example if your footwell module went down and had to be replaced you would have to code the FRM to the vehicle and then the modules would code in from there. How I think of it is modules can't communicate with their FRM if it's not made aware they are present. Hope that helps

Favorite build so far.. I love EVERY single thing about it.
The modules you changed on the headlights with the red seal around the multi plug is called a FLE(R) and FLE(L) or front light electronics r=right l=left . These are coded to the vehicle which is why the brand new second hand ones didn’t work . Swapping them works or like you said in the video a software update/coding would of also worked . When working on a BMW group vehicle you need to be using ISTA diagnostics. It would make your like so much easier . 👍🏼👍🏼
I’m in my 50’s so maybe a little old school. In saying that I’m must confess that the new front bumper cover looked bloody nice. It will look fantastic when in colour. Nice one Mat. P.S…love the longer video 👍🏻

What an insane First Epsiode of rebuild on it 😳 so much done !!!
Headlights worked since u changed the light control unit (it contains the original VIN to the vehicle ) the rest of the headlight is just wiring and LEDs. I think there’s even a way to program the unit but it requires special tools to rewrite the EPROM that contains all the codes inside the CU. So happy to see the lights pop on and understanding how everything works is even more exciting.

Hey Matt I’ve just rebuilt a 530d and had the same issues replacing the headlights, I too swapped the modules and got them working. The front bumper is absolutely beautiful! 😍 Great work!
Mr.Armstrong......you and your dad are a topclass miracleworkers. I tip my hat to you.
I'm convinced you could upload a 10 hour video and I wouldn't get bored. love the way you structure the videos Mat🙌🙌
The belts tension to assure loose clothing will be compressed for better function. The spools have control pyro latch for a dual level torque tube. Heavy G crash will leave higher torque part in action longer and then pyro unlatch to let low torque finish. Lower G releases high torque sooner. The spool twisting control gives a small belt reel n out to keep the stopping of your forward motion to a lesser harmful amount. The joke of" falling doesn't hurt you, it's the stop when you hit the ground " is at work with these force limiter belts.
Loving the longer video and showing more work being done! Kudos to you Mat and your family, they seem beyond friends, been following you since the start and you get better every video! Editing and content is always top notch! Great job 👍🏼
