Rebuilding a T-boned Honda CRV
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We start a new build today, it is a 2020 Honda CRV Touring edition with AWD. I managed to find this one with pretty low miles, only 14,600. It is going to need some doors and airbags which is obvious but I'm sure it will need much more once we get it apart.
I send all my seatbelts to www.myairbags.com/ for repair.

New car smell is a highly toxic off gassing of plastics. It is not good for you, and buying a used car is a good idea because of it.

Hi Scott it’s amazing how little damage a car can get written off (totalled) for. I bought a Honda Jazz small hatchback and after an afternoon of polishing out scuffs in the paint and a whole heap of preventative maintenance as you do, sold it the next day. Thanks for the inspiration man.

Honda parts are still really back logged. A family friend of ours just had their 2022 CRV totaled after getting sideswiped. Their insurance dictates new OEM parts and some of the parts were over backordered over 16 weeks. After you figure in storage fees at the body shop and rental car fees it doesn't take long to total one

Wow! I've been watching like 17 different car resto channels and I think that was the first time I've seen anyone use an actual razor knife and not just a loose razor blade. Way to raise the bar.
Good video. Do be careful of the sharp razor blade you know you're not used to them. Nice to Mr.Spotty put in an appearance. Looking forward to the next video.
Ding, ding, ding, ding… raises the air bag then hangs the side mirror out the window. Hilarious!!!

The whole sequence of getting it off the trailer made me laugh. From adjusting the broken mirror, fighting the bag and the scream. Nice job. And in my world the ratchet is lost under the carpet for at least a day when you let the carpet fall back over it removing the seat belt

I rebuilt a 2019 civic and you could not repair those pillars even if you wanted to. The frame pieces are cheap enough to pay a competent person to replace them. Also, Honda parts are stupid expensive and I bet the curtain airbag ripped the headliner. This is the only type of damage I will repair from now on. This is a touring so you will have 0 issues selling this before the final episode is uploaded 😎

Sounds like you've got some pretty dangerous weather over there. We get cyclones (hurricanes) here in Queensland Australia, but we are far enough South that we are rarely affected by them. We do get the odd small tornado, but few and far between. It's over 30 years since we had bad hail here at our place, but they did get some bad hail in town not long ago.

I just bought an undercarriage damaged car and I think the insurance company was scammed. There is a scrape on the rear subframe and driver's seat airbag is deployed. Besides that it's fine. Based on the mud crammed into the wheel lips, it slid through a ditch. Have you come across this before?

I would like to know how tuff that airbag material is? Could someone test some with welding sparks fire and a flap disk please. I have been told that it’s similar to Kevlar or the stuff they make fireproof suits out of. If it melts catches fire or is shredded to nothing by the flap disk then it’s not Kevlar or similar. If it is then that cloth could be very useful for various things.

In addition to deploying when it should, the other feature of a good airbag system is not deploying when it shouldn't. Especially if there's a secondary impact coming or it would prevent the driver controlling a still-moving vehicle. One less part to replace in repair is a bonus.
