These engines are great if change oil and filters every 5000 miles. Use full synthetic and a Hyundai oil filter Also keep good clean filters and plugs and also use fuel injector cleaner every other oil change.

I have a 2013 Sorento 2.4. Similar deal on mine. #3 rod cap was in the oil pan when I took it off, with a broken cap bolt and the bearing shell wedged in the crankcase. Prob lack of maintenance from previous owner. Bought at auction as a no start. Luckily cylinder walls not scored

2013-2018 Hyundai Santa fe sport 2.4L, same engine. Thank you! Been looking for a tear down and rebuild g4kj!

I Have a 2011 optima 2.4 gdi with 179k miles. There is a class action lawsuit/lifetime warranty for this motor due to debri on assembly. They replaced the engine with a reman at 0 cost to me and had it done in 13 days

Two questions; Was it using oil? Could the injector be leaking on number three cylinder.

where was the blockage at? can i just change the bearings? or is there a specific issue i would have to take care of first? Blockage or oil pressure loss?

Is it possible like say a small block chevy to pop the main caps off through the oil pan access and spin in new bearings or does the motor need to come out?

how can I loosen the flywheel bolts, if my motor is locked? I'm really appreciate your answer

You need to remove the oil pan and oil pump, the timing chain cover, the lower part of the cylinder block. Unscrew the connecting rods and loosen the crankshaft. When it starts to turn you can loosen flywheel.

Did you forget to change the oil or forget to add oil before the engine burned away all the oil? I have a 2014 optima and had the engine oil serviced every 3000 miles. I decided to change the oil myself the last 2 times and I noticed I only had 3 quarts left after just 2000 miles... I was pissed no one ever told me my engine was burning oil. It could have destroyed the engine if I wasn’t diligent about changing the oil for these past 6 years.

Not an engine engine, I would want a rebuilt, just had my 2016 Hyundai Sonata replaced free of charge due to the class, action lawsuit, I was at 130k they gave me no issues in three days I had a new engine in my car 😎 sometimes they will ask for maintenance records and proof of oil change, but I got lucky 😎 now I’m insured for another 10 years 150,000 miles, but these engines are crap and not worth to be rebuilt.

If you have eyes, you don’t need any explanation. It was quite clear. He unbolted all the accessories. He took apart the engine. The crankshaft bearings were bad. Replace them ALL and reassemble. Maybe if you have money, also go resurface the shaft and cylinders since you already have the engine opened up. The better option: Just go buy a Toyota 😂
