Speakerphone
(c)Rebecca Moore, March 2004
The voice
on speakerphone
is asking you
to understand about the end, the end
in this room
sound filters in
from the next-door dream
Im trying to come clean
sometimes you say: im not really here - no ive never been here...
were shadows in the fog.
And even silence will disappear someday
so why wont you hear me now -
im trying to come clean...
and I know that you dont mean
to come off so damn cruel
We are wandering buffalo,
just searching for the stream,
too heavy for our own good...
moving slowly in a haze of golden dust
im trying to come clean but I feel so lost
in this cloud of songs
that you left me.
so now - ive got to go
do you understand about the end the end the end the end
and though were not really here, no weve never been here
I found you in the dust
and while were trying to come clean
well both have to trust
that well find each other in the end
the end the end the end...

rebecca moore goes there. as much as any artist ive ever seen or heard. period. she gives soo much. she blows any other artist in the industry away. intelligent, poetic lyrics sung in the moment with the same emotion that inspired her to write them. very, very few artists have EVER been able to do this. thank you, rebecca. you are amazingly coeur-rage-ous..
A song of such calming beauty. It reminds me of my mother who passed away due to complications of cancer. Thank you Ms.Rebecca.
beautiful Rebecca... love your voice and the emotion behind it
This song is so beautiful that it is haunting.
she is wonderfull and so, so sweet... beautifull song from beautifull soul...
beautiful pure voice mature soulful words a pleasure to listen to wishing you well rebecca
beautiful woman; beautiful song, now another artist that has left New York, along with the clubs...a cultural crises has enveloped the greatest city in the world...how sad.
She's amazing, and definetly someone I admire greatly and who inspires me. I agree with what another commenter said, she would be absolutly wonderful to film or photograph. She has an original and raw beauty, but it's striking at the same time. It probably helps that she is so driven and talented. This is one of my favourite performances ever. It's simple, and dark, and moving. Especially the end. I hope at somepoint in my life I can catch one of her shows.
gorgeous.
