Rebecca Ferguson Interview: Silo, Mission Impossible & Tim Miller’s Best Served Cold

Over the last few years, Rebecca Ferguson has appeared in some of the most incredible novel adaptations in film and television. This year alone, she starred in Apple TV+’s Silo and will return as Jessica Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s highly-anticipated Dune: Part Two. But there’s more to come: During a red carpet interview in Rome for the premiere of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, Ferguson talked to Collider and provided an update on the upcoming adaptation of Joe Abercrombie’s Best Served Cold.
The project is still in very early stages: Ferguson was barely announced as lead a month ago. So far, we only know that Deadpool director Tim Miller is attached to helm. The approach to the source material is curious: Best Served Cold was published after the main story, which is dubbed The First Law Trilogy. This means that the entry point of moviegoers into that universe will be through a standalone novel. But, as Ferguson made it clear to Steve Weintraub, it’s all slowly coming to life:
“We were just talking about casting and who we want around. Yeah, I'm very, very excited. We'll see now with strikes and everything that's happening, but everything will happen in its own time.”
The First Law Is Coming
Best Served Cold is set in a cruel, kill-or-be-killed universe inhabited by Monza Murcatto (Ferguson), a ruthless mercenary whose popularity made her a target. After getting betrayed and left for dead, she embarks on a nonstop revenge quest in order to kill the seven men who tried to eliminate her. As the title suggests, she carefully plans her vengeance but is forced to fast-track her plans after another killer is dispatched to end her once and for all. Originally conceived as a trilogy that was kicked off with the best-selling novel The Blade Itself, Abercrombie’s series expanded into The First Law World, which now features ten books divided into trilogies, standalone novels, and short story collections.
It may be a while before we get to discover more about the Best Served Cold adaptation, but we certainly will see a lot of Ferguson before the project comes to life. The actor will return in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two (which is expected to premiere in theaters on June 28, 2024, but that could change) and is expected to return for Season 2 of Silo, which Apple renewed last week.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One premieres in theaters on July 12.

It feels strange to me how she seems to have a different face and style in every role or even interview but someway she manages to be beautiful every time. A lot of people doesnt seem to know who she is and i bet it has to do with that (even if she's not super famous she has defintely been in a lot of pretty much known movies and it's difficult not to notice her, even in a small role).

Such an underrated actress. The quality of the show is phenomenal & I haven't made it past episode 4 ❤
I LOVE how excited she seems to play the Serpent of Talons. When I first heard she would be playing Monza, I didn't think she looked how I imagined the character (but that happens all the time, anyway). BUT! I think she's gonna nail the presence.
Tim Miller is one of the more exceptional (action) directors. Furthermore, Rebecca Ferguson is such a talented as well as elegant actress.

Deadpool 1 and 2 are by far the most misogynistic of the Marvel/DC superhero films. Of course SHE would work with that director: she's the Queen of Demeaning Hollywood Stereotypes for Women (watch any film of hers from after 2015 and you'll see what I mean). Llsa Faust was the "hot woman who can fight but is primarily a love interest/sex object" trope and she was FRIDGED (LMAO!). She also played the most deplorable mother put to film in the stupid Dune movie. Also, the Best Served Cold plotline sounds like the stereotypical Hollywood "strong woman" move where they take a male character and genderbend it to be played by a hot woman, emphasis on the hot part. I guess that's sexy fo the target male audience, right? (The audience is supposed to want find her sexy while she fights: that's the goal).

@@iggydaking9117 I mean you can stop pretending you like her for reasons other than sex appeal. The only reason this woman is even moderately successful in Hollywood is because she's a woman. All her characters are cowardly, agencyless, 2d stereotypes who rely on looks to get by. Also, this woman likes to curse a lot and look "edgy" but that just shows how crass/low-class she really is. It's also very "not like other girls". Looks are all that's required for women in Hollywood. Also, Best Served Cold is just more toxic masculinity with a woman performing the violence and being sexy for the male audience.

Let's we all hope her amazing Ilsa Faust character not be killed off in this Mission Impossible film and its part 2 sequel , the key scene in the desert and the Venice bridge scene make us worry

I have been loving and enjoying this series, but Common's beard. Wow, that was definitely a "choice" Every time I see it, it takes me right out of enjoying the narrative being told. Not the best creative choice.
