I was taught the same thing, and that was the one technique of my time. Simone Biles, in my view, has the best back handspring in the game. Watch how long her snap down is from her hands to her feet. Great block angle, maintain speed across the floor like a pole and bam launches. Some gymnast just do round off entry these days to focus on block angle and hands to feet takeoff. Still, I believe most back handsprings are along these days with the occasional high whip back technique. I do tumble tracks for fun so I see the appeal of a whip back style back handspring. Seems it overtime, as all things do, there are evolutions. Thanks again for your insightful and kind message.
IM EARLY!!!! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH!!! I LOVE ALL UR VIDS!!! FIRST!!
I’m so excited to see Becky in Paris! Will she get a bar medal? 😉
In the Voinea's combo she is not finishing the double layot completely

I noticed that too. She lands piked down with her chest low. I wonder if they added the punch front to try to mask that.

That is how you punch out of the skill and reverse directions (ie. it's not a deduction). Your shoulders have to be much further out in front in order to stop you momentum moving you backwards

@@calihapamama You have to land like that if you're going to do a punch front

Vanessa atler did one and then did a stag jump out of the tuck and it was everything
Becky looks much better. The Hindorff at the end of the combo was significantly higher than usual which shows she has more energy/stamina
Rebeca Andrade do Brasil ❤🇧🇷
Let's get ready to rumble Madom gymnastics chocolate cake 🍰😊❤ sister soldier 🪖 solid gold 🥇 Medalist Olympic champion 🏆 Amen 😊❤
Has anyone bothered to tell Sabrina Voinea that the back handsprings in her tumbling passes are supposed to be LONG? The shoulder angle in her flicflacs is terrible.

In my generation that was very true. In the late 80s if you Gym started to do a high back in spring, similar to a whip back. Valerie Lewin, nauseous, father who did the first triple, had a very high whip back backhand spring. Gazza, 1988 floor triple back, and extremely high back handspring. Nowadays, it’s considered a different technique. Not good or bad, just a different technique. it often depends on the skill as well. For twisting, you may see much longer. Backhand rings to create a deeper block angle. Flipping you may periodically see extremely high back handspring. Sherbo, Olympic champion all around 92 and a friend of mine was married to a power Tumblr. She hated his back handspring, ha ha ha. The long back handspring produces across the floor like a running pole vaulter. The short back handspring like a whip back, focusing on the snap down and block angle and punch.I am curious, would you be interested if I did a video on these techniques for analysis? Thanks for your comment.

@@OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp When I was taking my coaching course, I was told that the harder the tumbling pass, the longer and flatter the back handspring should be. Our top gymnasts did drills to make their handsprings longer. But you're right, I just watched the Liukin and Gogoladze triple backs (to analyse the handsprings rather than marvel at the triples), and they had this same high handspring with closed shoulders. It clearly worked for them. Interesting. Learn something new every day...

Well I mean it’s working for her .. in fact she’s able to do a whole rebound element out of a pass most gymnast can’t even do
Andrade needs to get ride of that switch half. It’s just not worth the deductions, and probably her ring jump. They’re just always an issue.
