I would think that the main motivator for both the conflicts and the migrations must have been climate change. More and more evidence is suggesting that it is what brought about the end of the bronze age in around 1,500 BC. It would be interesting to see if it was a factor in the case of the Bantu. Is there a general date as to when the displacement began.
