You actually have cars with drum brakes, crikeys, I havn't seen a drum brake system on the wheel brakes (still see them occasionally on shaft brakes and hand/emergeny brakes) in over 10 years. I have been a mechanic for 30 years including 12 years in the RAAF 1/35th Sq. Job well done Rick. Cheers to you n Mary budy Lee

Cool vid Rick. Every time I replace the rear shoes I always put masking tape on the face of the shoes to keep all oil and greasy fingerprints off, then pull the tape off when I put on the drums. Cheers !! :)

Dude you’re a lifesaver I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra and I won over a pothole and the back driver side tire started grinding, I took the tire off and the adjuster and the spring fell right off on the left shoe. I was going to take it to a repair shop because I’ve never done drums before but this looks easy as hell

Thanks for the overview. Just did my brakes this morning and your video helped with a few questions. First side took an hour, other side maybe 15 min. LOL

Thank you. Doing my Mom's 03 Sentra with 85K on ode. She didn't need new rear drum brakes. I just cleaned with brake clean. If you don't go over 45 mph, the rear drums probably last till 110K.

My Equinox 2006 has the same set up for the front brake!Your right about the old style chevy. They had a pin treaded to the calliper.Very easy to do the front brake on mind.By the way,you should always put some grease on the back plate for the rear brake. You glove are a little to big to do a job like that.LOL Nice vd.Thanks.

There are almost only standard shift vehicles, but on mine, I almost never use the e-brake, except when I'm parking at a slope. I always put it in 1st gear, which really is enough to hold the vehicle. I don't want my e-brake to freeze to the drum in winter times or something like that...

Another thing is, if you look on the drum where the lug studs come through you'll notice to extra bolt holes, those are threaded so you can run two bolt into them and it pushes against the axle and pops the drum off so you don't fatigue it like you did with the mini sledge.

The issue is the jack is supposed to roll as it lifts up on the car and on gravel it doesnt move easy or at all. This can cause th jack to tip over

Rick, go back and look at the video, you put the shoes on upside down and backwards, the fiber part goes all the way to the end of the metal part on one side of the shoe. There is a front and back shoe, they're not all four the same.

Shoulda lubed the backing plates on the drums. To compress the piston on the front use the old inboard pad, nothing better.
