I waited 45 mins picking up a doordash order there a few weeks ago and I'm in a mid sized college town. There was maybe 4 orders ahead of me waiting for their food.

Former Californian here and I use to go to Daves back when they had 2 locations in LA and will say the OG location was hella hot back then. I currently live in NYC and the spice level has definitely dropped since then as they kind of spread out more. The reaper today is more like the hot level back in the day. I noticed the stoped having people sign the waiver (which was crucial back at the OG location) and it makes more sense to tone it down for the masses.

This FR, was legit a bit worried going into their reaper sandwich, but ended up finishing the whole thing just because it was so damn good. Gave my spice tolerance a huge boost too. It's now my go to for chicken sandos. And for those saying "oh, but he used the sauce" that doesn't help the heat at all, but it is a hella good sauce.

But those lawsuits are more of an annoyance for these companies anyway; they don’t typically go anywhere. The first one to succeed in a long time was about the one chip challenge thing, which _was_ a little dicey, IMO. I’ve definitely noticed quick service food getting less spicy in the last several years, but I think that has more to do with profit margins declining, and too many people demanding their food be remade because “I didn’t know it was gonna be this hot.”
