My name is Albeli Ritu and I love telling stories. When I was a little girl all I wanted was to do something creative and different. I didn't have the courage to do it for the last 27 years but finally, I have decided to be the hero of my own story. I came to the US in 2018 December and from 2019 I am sharing my journey as a KZreadr in America. I make travel and lifestyle videos in Hindi from America. I recently moved to London, UK and I am very excited to share my experiences and the whole journey with you. If you like this video don’t forget to subscribe.

Amount of money saved in 2-10 yrs or may be lifelong is much less than living with your parents, seeing them, sipping tea with them, having lunch dinner and outings with them. Not visiting your parents in a hospital as a TOURIST is certainly priceless.

To give an idea of high end expenses: Time Square NY City small 1 bedroom - $4600 rent (that's a very good deal). Total monthly expenses, Including rent, with controlled spending, and with very controlled eating out - almost $11k. Besides, NYC has both high state taxes and city taxes. Everything is extremely expensive in the Time Square area for anyone who lives there. (Surprisingly, you can get some cheap foods there but you can't eat that all the time every day). So, if you earn one crore, you will not be able to get accommodation. To be eligible to get a room on rent, you must show that you earn at least 40 times the monthly rent, which is more than 2 crores. But again, salaries don't mean the same things, given the horrendous expenses.

You are taking an extreme example, have you seen rents in Mumbai? 1BHK rent in south Mumbai is in excess of $1000 Dollars but salaries are 10 times less than Manhattan for same jobs. A car is cheaper is USA, baaki goods are also same price... so lifestyle is much higher...

Yea but a guy working in NYC will probably be earning way more than a 1 cr. For example, consultants after MBA easily earn 175000 USD base pay excluding performance bonus and sign on bonus. Which is around 1.4 cr ( only the base pay ).

I have 2 helpers for my ailing mom, 2 maids for cooking and cleaning. And certainly I am managing all expenses below 70 k INR per month. I guess I have a life style that I am enjoying back in India. I mean certainly the glamour and progressive lifestyle in USA is attractive but what if that starts to fade away over a period of time? Also I guess the change of mindset that happens after moving away from our own culture like emotional distancing from parents etc is something we need to think seriously. Boss, I personally think nothing is lacking in India. Literally nothing. But I also respect all people who struggled to bring a change and moved out of India with big dreams in their eyes.

I moved to England in 1968, three weeks after I got married at 18. I am now 75. I don’t have any family members here, except my own family with children and grandchildren. I have to say, I didn’t miss the family when I arrived as there is no servant, no one to iron your clothes, do the cleaning and cooking, the gardening, taking care of the children. Life becomes super busy almost overnight. I do visit Mumbai every 2-3 years. So not everyone misses their family, you become busy with your household responsibilities.

This is not a fair comparison.. For high taxes you get services like 911 , Social security ( where u get a cheque after you cross 62) , Medicare ( low cost health insurance when u cross 62) , unemployment benefits,Great infrastructure, way less pollution , bigger houses and a much better quality of life and of course great opportunities to advance your career. There are downsides to living in US as well but the system works in a way that you pay more to gov when you are younger and reap the benefits during your sunset years. Youngsters planning to move should evaluate their situation , goals and then choose.

Full of confusion should be compared by same post a IT person in India and in USA then it's a right comparison and keep I mind that in India he is buying house/ car/ taking care of his family Mother/ Father then see what's happening 😉 . In india after spending so much amount of money he can still save some amount of money but in usa he is in burden of emi, loan etc

Hello Ritu, what would be a comfortable salary for a couple to stay outskirts of London? If you could comment on it that would be helpful.

I live in England, about 2 hours drive from London. I would estimate at least £60,000 - £70,000 per year you would need to earn. Better to move away from London and commute by train to work. Better still, if the husband and wife both work.
