Realistic Operations - Paper Mills and Steep Grades in HO
Фильм және анимация
Welcome back to the layout. In this video, we take a closer look at how the Paper Mill Local, P31, operates. This line is based on the NS "T-Line" from Asheville, NC to Canton, NC and the Evergreen Paper Plant. Thanks for watching!

I love the old "southern" lettering showing through on that beat-up high hood SD40-2! Great video, and thanks for sharing with us :)

This layout is one of the best on KZread. I particularly enjoyed this video because a main part of my new layout will be Georgia Pacific's Plattsburgh, NY paper mill. Most of the local and through traffic will be wood/paper as well. Love the real train sounds! Keep up the good work.

As a brit American Rail has always fascinated me and although I wouldn't personally model American your videos have truly inspired me and given me plentiful ideas for mine and my grandads new layout, we are both blown away at what you and your dad have accomplished over the years, happy modelling
I love the scence with the abandon crossing thats a very nice touch
This is really one of my favorites on the channel! I love how you added the view from the Chip View Barbecue with the dishes clinking in the background. All you need now is some figures then you’re good to roll! It’s really cool that way since you get to see different realistic views of the trains as they pass, and not just trackside! You’re actually going out of your way to show different places you could be as they come by. By the tracks, in a restaurant, walking down the street, even on a dance floor like you showed us in an older layout tour, lol. You have the best way of making different views of the trains passing through. That’s what I really love about your operating videos! Keep on going. Also, I can’t wait for the next tour, and tutorial video to come out. You rock with that!

True to 'realism' Perfect video for a classroom lesson in transportation.
Fantastic. I love the view/sounds from inside the bar!
Awesome shot looking through the restuarant at the train leaving the yard on the other side. 👍

Great video, great camera angles and lighting for the scenes, realistic speeds and I'm happy to see those wonderful SD40-2's moving rolling stock. Living along the NS in WV, I get to see a number of those old SD's yet today. Besides the coal movements here, intermodal traffic along the Heartland Corridor is great to watch especially traversing the Ohio River near Kenova, WV.
Great episode! And the weather has improved since the last video :D

Josh thank You always for sharing the great videos of your layout. Such an awesome layout
The effort put into your videos is impressive. It makes them worth watching again and again. Fantastic work.
Your sound is absolutely perfect and you have a smooth running setup. Lights, signals, neat, got it all. Shooting through the window of the detailed room. That's just showing off. 😊
Love the old crossing signal with the vines and weathered! Also a big fan of Lombard Hobbies! Great team of guys there!
All your videos are very well done and the choreography are excellent. Thank you for your work and sharing it with us.
This video was so much fun to watch. Also, the attention to detail on the layout is amazing. I'm gonna be binge watching today.
Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your layout and hope to have one even half as detailed as yours at some point. My grandpa who was my father figure was really into model railroading and he had a huge layout. I would always love watching him run the trains on it when I was young. Sadly, he had to sell all of it when we moved. He recently passed and I have picked up the hobby as a way to remember him and feel close to him. I have a huge collection of antique locomotives and rolling stock I’ve found at antique stores. I am just waiting until I have space to start my layout. Your videos are giving me great inspiration for what I can do with my layout. So thank you!
This video is extraordinary on many levels. It is so realistic it briefly fooled me a few times. Your attention to detail is off the charts
What an awesome h.o. scale layout! I counted 9 NS locomotives that I could see. NS is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE railroad industry as well. Thanks for sharing your videos and I'm viewing them from the 1st state of Delaware.
Great video Mr. Josh!
It's not only the great layout which makes this video so great it very much also is the very accurate way you proceed this demonstration together with the very informative voiceover which makes this such great videos for me. Thanks!

Super great video. Feels like the real McCoy
Love the video and great looking layout and motive power. I railfanned the prototype line a fair amount in Watco times and the layout really captures the feel of the area.
The detailing on your locomotives it outstanding, not just the weathering but the actual detailing! The operations in this video are very nice and the sounds are awesome! Keep it up! Subscribed!

Nice touch with the vines growing up the abandoned crossing gate at 9:52
Love the dynamic brake and squeaks sounds!
Fantastic as always. I loved it. Great sound effects.
I'm pretty sure your layout could be studied by a mathematical physicist. Their analysis would probably conclude something in fantastical equations,, but for regular people, they would probably explain it in words in a scientific paper somewhere...like , "Observing Scaled quantative density combined with natural light, distillates and equals reality when perceived by those scaled observations." Or something to that effect. Well done bro. You've completely blown my mindset.
Another excellent video Josh!
Always a great pleasure watching ops on your fantastic layout. It appears you have a kudzu problem at the abandoned grade crossing. lol Nice touch. BTW, GP50s and GP60s each have more horsepower than SD40-2s. Great video, I look forward to next time!
Great video, hope to see your layout in person one day.

Very nice video!!! Thumbs up!!!
Great video as usually
Great layout! SD40 3216 actually works out of Norfolk, VA. I see it moving container, gravel and other trains to and from Portlock Yard, Virginia Marine Terminal and the yard shares by CSX in Chesapeake.
Another great video and keep up the good work
That abandoned grade crossing & gate were very cool. Canton is the smelliest place in the AVL region imho in real life due to that mill.

Been lurking your channel for a year or more now and just sub'd. Such an inspiration this layout is, especially since modern east coast layouts are seemingly rare. Really want to do a layout such as this someday, but based moreso on the mountains and eastern side of Maryland, as most of my stock is CSX and Amtrak. Ideal layout would have tight mountain running on one end such as Cumberland, while the other has long straight stretches for NE corridor action and fast intermodal, such as near Baltimore/Annapolis. Again, great layout dude and look forward to many more awesome videos from ya!

Very nice. I model the paper industry and have several mills on my layout. Would loved to have seen the two trains switching more of the mill however.
