The 2013 Rio Hatchback (1.2i engine, model "Mind") trunk is very easy to open, in my opinion. When the doors are unlocked (remote control, no keyholes) you slightly push the nicely tucked away electronic button (again no key hole) on the trunk itself and it's open. Also, considering that the trunk is pretty massive, you have to use almost no strength to lift it up or to close it again. Something I've encountered with other brands with pretty similar trunks. There you had to really put in some amount of strength to be able to close it again, strangely enough.

Heh, my $14k '14 base model stick shift without even power locks or windows has a key hole for the trunk. Either that's something they added or a case where simpler is better... and I still have the release by the gas cap release too.

My 2007 Civic EX was $20K and no heated seats or leather, or nav, or pushbutton start and the window sticker said 30/40 MPG and it was a lie. They lowered it the following year to 25/35 MPG. Did I mention the interior was cheap plastic, the carpet was more of a matt then a carpet. Oh and fog lights were a accessory transmission 5 spd. Horse power 140. So Kia Rio is OK in my book

This isn't bad at all for a fully loaded sub compact. Considering its competition, it clearly has a leg up on amenities that other brands only offer on their luxury divisions. And I think its definitely far better looking than the competition - thank audi previous designer!

I would honestly stick with the sx base level. For me nav although looks nice, is not really an important feature just more distraction in the car. Sunroof well, im used to no sunroof and leather not my cup of tea. Cloth for me is more comfy. If I really do need a nav the ill make the trip to walmart and get a 99 buck one. SX base model has alot of goodies already. Hell ill be excited when I can get a functioning cupholder again.

I have the base Rio. I got mines at $12600. It's a really good car for the price. CHECK OUT MY 10K AND 20K mile reports videos on my Rio. I give the Rio a GOOD rating.
