Interesting take on "It happened quiet". In my mind it is a very "visual" song, as if it describes a scene after something has happened. Coupled with other songs like Murder Song and Churchyard, I really take it as the aftermath of somethng traumatic, either a fight that ends terribly (like a fight with the "he" in Churchyard probaby would go ("He closed all the windows, as his anger broke free") or a suicide brought on by an impossible relationship. (Interestingly, you could almost sing the first verse of Churchyard to fit with the first verse of "It happened quiet", which is probably another reason why I link them together.) One way or the other, she ends up on the ground outside his window, and will return (from the shadows) to haunt him for what he has done - despite the fact that he fell apart after it happened. Might be my interpretation is too "literal", but it's mine and I'm sticking to it! :p

Im from bergen, where this was filmed, and I have found myself an american wife. While having tea by the window together one stary night, early in our relationship, I asked her if she enjoyed nature. She responded as to try to please me with her answer "yes of course, I walk in central park all the time". My heart sank for a second, realizing that her idea of nature was a paved walkway surounded my plantet trees and mowed lawns. I then burst into laughter, thrilled that I could have the chance to experience falling in love with wild untouched nature once more, through the eyes of this woman. Somehow Auroras music gives me something similar. It enables me to fall in love with this curious universe over and over again every time I listen to it. What a gift!

Random sidenote about the performance, but the woman seen a few times in the audience with the rainbow-colored coat is Ane Brun, one of AURORA's early influences. In the HAIK documentary that accompanies this concert, she does an acoustic cover of All is Soft Inside for AURORA and her band, which was a total surprise to them (a day full of surprises for a musical artist being the main theme of the show). That's also on KZread if you're ever inclined to watch, and Ane Brun is great too if you ever want to check her out. I'll add some links below to everything I mentioned: *The tech-house remix of an Ane Brun song that first introduced me to her: Ane Brun - Balloon Ranger (Clavis Remix) --- kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4uCuKesmrC0ZLg.html *The original: Ane Brun - Balloon Ranger --- kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJ98yslwYrCaftI.html *Ane Brun's cover of AURORA - All is Soft Inside --- kzread.info/dash/bejne/rHZks9pwktipdps.html *The AURORA HAIK documentary --- kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmdhp8SsfZS3oKw.html

Really enjoyed your reaction and commentary! There just isn't anyone else like Aurora! This entire concert is incredible! I agree that "The Seed" should be at the forefront of the environmental movement! It has actually been featured by GreenPeace in livestream concerts. I recommend her Nidarosdomen Christmas Concert (in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble and choir), as well as the KEXP concert in Iceland (with Bjork in attendance)! Also her recent performance with the Bergen Philharmonic, especially her first live performance of "Soulless Creatures!" I'm hoping to attend a live show by Aurora toward the end of the coming year, when such concerts resume.

I love the build up to the final chorus on The Seed, it's so powerful. I'm amazed the song isn't a huge anthem for environmental activists. I'm glad you both mentioned the backing singer, who is Silja Sol. She is a singer in her own right and has released songs in Norwegian. I find their harmonies beautiful. One song that I feel shows the harmonies well is Aurora's cover of Ariana Grande's God is a Woman. I assume you're aware of the original? The story about the cover is interesting, as it was not something Aurora intended to do. She visited the P3 radio station in Norway to do an interview and perform one of her songs live. P3 have a thing where as an artist arrives, they tell them a song that they'd like them to cover. The artist then has less than an hour to work out an arrangement, practise a few times and then perform it live. When I consider these restraints it makes me love the cover even more! kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKKTmMtwh8jKXcY.html (I sense that Aurora wasn't keen on the original song... I wonder if you agree?)

Great reaction guys, both part one and this, thanks! A wonderful concert, fantastic production from the Norwegian 'state broadcaster' (NRK). Unfortunately, there is a lag between imagery and sound, which has been introduced from the one that uploaded the concert into KZread, the original on NRK webpage of perfectly synced. Edit: All except the men's choire are recorded in the forest, obviously mixed great afterwards, but definitely live. Choir were recorded prior to the concert, due to almost impossible to record sound in the forest for all those in the choir. They sang of course, but the prerecorded version were mixed in. There are other great concerts available as well, for instance Nidarosdomen, already mentioned by some others. Thanks again!

You two are still great - and it was still fun to rewatch this with you (and that tiny little morse-code is still going on in the right channel if you did not catch my comment on the last video ). I agree that HAIK may be the best way to get a feel for her space in a structured space. Random versions on the internet can confuse people as they see something from her Nidarosdomen set/orchestration and then something recorded in a radio-study, then something from the Honda Stage concert then ... she and her band reaches for so different visions. Regarding her future, I think she stated that "exist for love" was hinting at her direction (new from past direction or not, it is still unclear to me). I know it is good, though. I have a huge heart for NRK. NRK is our little nation's little sister of BBC - we have always financed it collectively. It is ad-free. This gives them artistic freedom. So, they can arrange the "HIKE" sessions. Paying back to artists that makes us happy. While giving us, the viewers and listeners some amazing concerts with amazing production quality. NRK has "uhørt" going (unheard). Where young unknown kids can post their demos with them - to become heard. They have prices for it - not like some talent show, mind you. It is like Sundance for national musicians. They cover folk-music festivals. Classical music festivals. Because they can afford to make live-TV that does not instantly sell ads. A TV company that, by the way, has enough ompf to produce the winter-Olympics live if needed. There is a colossal amount of talents in that company. (If you do not believe me - google NRK "Slow TV". They are relaying multicamera and sound live 24/7 once in a while from the craziest places. Because - while NRK is "collective socialism" in a way - they are also running a massive R&D office, to improve their capabilities to be on the spot. As such - we are socialists - but we also understand that NRK is running an add to commercial TV in this recording. Showing off real muscle in relaying a pitch-perfect concert located in a wood - commercial TV is known to pay good money for the tech involved. Since this concert is public domain (like Nidarosdomen) in Norway - we paid for it - they are also lax about copyright striking for non-profit use. Record labels are probably the ones who go sour on KZreadrs. Final words. Aurora is special. And you asked about her place in Norway. She does not have a huge place in the pop-cultural scene. Comparatively, she is bigger in Brazil. Or - comparatively, she is bigger globally - in this niche she has carved out - with a few weirdos here and a few weirdos there all over the place. It is so easy to look at top-ten best-sellers at present. Remember - the Vienna Symphony is never on a top ten list. But they do OK with their "niche music". Even Bjørk is doing just fine after her surprise hit record "Debut" for obvious reasons that allowed her to go independent in her journey :)

I figure by that that she is bleeding in his bed is what it is, he kills her by some sort of domestic violence and she will come back and haunt him.

It Happened Quiet is a song about an actual murder of passion that occurred... and turning his bed red is about her (the murdered woman) returning to haunt the male lover who murdered her. It's quite dark. I really truly enjoyed sharing all of this with the both of you... you both are super lovely. Appreciate the genuine love and reaction. Great Reaction thanks for that! Aurora is exceptional and yes its not mainstream but much better. The one singer we forget after one song is not what she is. Her lyrics are deep and leave everybody behind with a different interpretation. That is ok because everybody has different experiences and closed this up to some of her songs. To understand more from her is quiet an good idea go for her documentations and also interviews. In her interviews is a huge different when the questioner is respectless or just low on quality she pay back with fantastic statement like......what is the name of your shelf.......she said... shshshshself!

If you watch the video for "the seed"..you would REALLY see what she means..in my oppinion this is one of her best one EVER (and everything she does is great) i loved your reaction. Haik in norwegian means hitch hike. The women that talked, is a host, and she picked Aurora up at home, and took her to different things, in the car, therefore the name Haik (like you got picked up, hitch hiking). This consert is the ending of that "journey/car ride." The interview/haik "tour" is with english subtitles. You get to see Aurora in different settings, and get to know her more. Here is the link to the Haik documentary tv.nrk.no/se?v=MKTV57000219 you should both watch it 😁 (since you allready have seen the consert it led up to.. She said in norwegian at the end: "don't forget to dream big." And it was her parents hugging there in the end.. Love from Norway. 🇳🇴

Re vocalese and vocalizing: Aurora has said she is inventing her own language, using some self-made words in the lyrics of songs. This is mentioned in this interview www.lofficielusa.com/music/norwegian-pop-star-aurora Here's an excerpt: "In the second chorus of Forgotten Love ... she sings in a language that’s neither Norwegian nor English, but a language of pure emotion that she conceived herself." And she sometimes quotes others such as Leonard Cohen "leaning out for love" in Aurora's Exist for Love and the Cree Indian proverb she credits with the "you cannot eat money" lyric in The Seed. This quote is on her music video for that son: "When the last tree has been cut down, and the last fish caught, the last river poisoned, only then will we realize we cannot eat money."

Love the reviews (both parts)! Aurora has performed her climate change anthem The Seed in many venues, but this is by far my favorite because of the forest setting, so central to her personal and artistic life in every way it seems. It's a testimony to her performance skills that she not only had no prior knowledge of the choir but also hadn't planned to sing in a forest, much less this one located at Lyse Abbey on the Fjord of Light in Os where Aurora grew up. She has frequently said in interviews that she played long hours alone in the forest as a child. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyse_Abbey). NRK TV host @ChristineDancke was taking Aurora back to her roots. There's a strange dilemma for us warriors and weirdos, with what you were saying about wanting her to be a hidden gem. We love the idea of Aurora being our beautiful little secret, but at the same time, we spend a lot of time telling youtubers to react to her songs! On the one hand it's wonderful to have this relatively small Aurora fandom, where it appears to be made up almost exclusively of fundamentally good people, but we also want everyone to hear her and be as affected as we are. She really does care about her fans. She spends a lot of time before and after her concerts meeting and speaking individually to her fans. She has said that a lot of inspiration for her music has come from meeting people around the world and listening to their stories. I think it would be a shame if she got so famous that that personal interaction became impossible for her, as I believe she would be so unhappy to lose it.

I'm don't speak English as my mother language so I'm sure there is a lot of grammatical problems :| I feel like "it happened quite" it's about a murder followed by suicide. "Eyes blue and hollow As it rains against their will Feathers falling out of a pillow As if time's standing still " he probably attacked her and shes is talking about his eyes and how he is crying (raining) then suffocating her with a pillow. "I can't remember much more But I know it happened quietly So quiet" Probably talking as a post mortem point of view... how silent was while she was dying "Words falling out through the window All that remains is a silent call Is the earth-coloured red? As I land like a flower on the meadow Love is wild" All the words were gone and now all that lasted was her "silent call" while suffocating Feel like the "flower on the meadow" thing was about how soft was when her body lost the fight and begin to slowly fall in the bed "And you fell apart Like a stone can be broken into sand One thousand pieces Spread across a dying land" This is the moment he breaks down before killing her, in one thousand pieces emotionally and physically, when he jumps out of the window spreading across a dying land "And you can't remember that day But you know it happened quietly So quiet" "..." "Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Don't you speak over my voice I will return from the shadows And I'll bleed in your bed Turn it red Like the ground outside your window Love is wild" Seems like the dreams and don't speak over her voice was part of a discussion they were having before all of this... probably this was the words that fell through the window Then she's back, from the shadows, she wasn't dead when he jumped but probably she is very hurt from the fight and now all she can do is bleed in his bed while he bleeds outside the window "Love is wild" Sure it is

Hi you! Regards from Norway. I love your reactions, and consider to suscribe, but it’s a big but.....! Your volum control. I can hear you eating chips, giggle, breath, and all sounds you make over the music from Aurora. You need to get her volume up, and lower yours over the music. Her lover notes are diffecult to hear, even with headphones, with your low volum. Please check it out. 😊

Aurora does not sing songs she can be 100% behind.... She was "pressured" to accept a song one time, and she told them that that would not happen again, if so she would quit! See the Hike documentary also.... It shows you more of the person Aurora....

@@dulcealvarez6071 --------- ------- - Why do you dislike "Conqueror"? - There are small details that maybe only I see, sounds I don't like and a text that has a message that I'm not so attached to anymore. It just doesn't feel relevant now. Obviously, there won't be much in the music until I hate something I've done. But it's the hungry that keeps me awake when I'm tired, says Aurora. --------- ------- In the documentary "En gang Aurora" her manager tells about him pushing Aurora to include songs that he feels need to be in the album, Magnus tells us that Conqurer became "the name" on what she did not like with the industry. After that she told her management that "If I have to give out music I don't like again, I will quit".

Ps! all Aurora's songs are not about herself except 2 songs Exist for love and Lucky .. the audience was not picked they all are hardcore warriors and weirdos(fanbase) and these people are the mirror of Aurora. Other norwegians you should react to are Susanne Sundfør and Emilie Nicolas those 2 are far away from the mainstream circus

I can't be sure of the symbolism of your background image, but it might have something to do with moths. She's said something along the lines of: moths are the unloved version of a butterfly, and therefore she has a special fondness for them. Three major themes of her music are: 1) Nature (human nature and man's place in the natural world). 2) Mental health (loneliness, being an outsider, repressing emotions as something harmful, toxic relationships). 3) Inclusivity: It doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, or who you love- you all have a place in Auroras world.
