Using dark color pencil is a god one, Because the width of the lash is about the same as the line of a color pencil. Well, these are the talent of the artist ho spend time to observe and then perform. Christine Karron is an extremely talent artist. her observation skill is very deep into the subject matter. She deserved to be famous at a very young age. Nothing comes easy ! George Wu, AIA, ARCHIECT,NCARB 2017-7-16

You are exceptionally good at watercolours! Do you use other types of media too, or do you stick to watercolours for the most part? I was wondering if it would be easy to jump back and forth between watercolours and oils, for example.

Thanks so much! Watercolor is only one part. Have worked in many different media, but jumping from one media to another isn't fun, usually phases where I like to work in one media for a while, maybe even process. Last few years I am mostly illustrating children's books and work in watercolor and colored pencils, all the paintings I share here are personal and experimental pieces to practice the hand :)

hello! this is beautiful. it's amazing how you're (or any artist) are capable of creating work like this. it blows my mind! I'd expect it to discourage me, but it's got me wanting to do it 24/7, to reach this skill. I was wondering if you had any tips for beginners?? I usually sketch, but I've been needing color, so I decided to start with watercolor because it looks so fragile and soft and kind of effortless(IM VERY AWARE YOU NEED TO PUT A LOT OF EFFORT HAHAHAHAHA MY FEW PAINTINGS ARE ABSOLUTE CLUMSY LOOKING GARBAGE) but yeah, do you have any tips????

Thank you! Sketch, draw and paint as often you can, and have fun. Don't compare your art to others - always compare your most recent work to your own previous artworks! Can't tell you how long I have been working with watercolour - I have been drawing with pencils and painting with acrylic and oil as well from time to time - but I have been drawing and painting my whole life (40+ years). Happy painting!

I mostly draw pieces in an anime/ cartoon-y style but watching you paint realistically makes me want to paint more realism pieces. I know that for skin color, there are many composition possible to create the colors, but I have trouble with the undertones. Do you add blues, greens or purples paint in the mix? I have seen other artist do that and it looks beautiful, but when I do it it looks horrible. >.

Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Raphael were all keen on observation. proportion, details, expression all comes later. But some artists do not have the skill on observation, they took the easy way out, called their work " abstract art " . Who are they lying to ? Themselves ! To draw you have to see, to see you have to know your subject - study your subject, make research, learn anatomy. Take your pencil and sketchbook everywhere and sketch as often as you can. If there is a part that makes you struggle then sketch it from all sides, repeat until you have it - that's the only way to get better :)

Vous nous faites une complète démonstration de la difficulté de la peinture des yeux dans un portrait. Il faut avoir préparé les quatre ou cinq couleurs nécessaires puis les appliquer par petites touches. Personnellement je suis encore loin de votre résultat.

It's wonderful how you respond to almost all of your comments hun. Though I gotta ask, isn't it annoying when people say that" you are talented"over saying "you are detected"? I personally hate when people do that, they never aknowledge the fact that no artist was born with a canvas and painting set and that 'talent' doesn't really play a role, motivation does. (Haha, Sorry if this is a bit long)

  • @chkarron

Hi Haneefh! I am trying to respond to all the comments, although it's turning to a full time job slowly :) and I can't keep it up as much as I want. No it doesn't annoy or bother me at all when people say I am talented - I know it's meant as an compliment and I'm thankful for that and appreciate it! But I know what you mean - there are many different opinions about talent or not talent recently. In my case - I know I had a gift for drawing and painting from the beginning, my whole family does - but it's a different story with using it and working on it to a professional level - that means hard work and dedication, as in every other branch. I know many people who can draw naturally but they never pursued it to make it to their profession. In my opinion everybody is good at something, better than others, and that's talent - ideally you would work with it because you're interested/motivated in it and get better over the time and can make a living of it :)
